Chapter 191 - Misunderstanding (1/2)
Jackson opened one of the bedroom doors and found a young woman lying on the floor handcuffed to the leg of a bed. Her hair and clothes were messy, she looked pale and her eyes were red from crying. ”Please, let me go!” she screamed. ”I've been here for a week!”
Jackson looked at the woman's face with pity; it wasn't his sister, but it was still shocking to see. What were these people doing in this apartment? Was this some kind of sick fetish?
”Trisha, help this woman,” he said to Trisha before he rushed to the next room. Trisha quickly ran inside with discomfort. It was hard for a woman to see another woman in this state. What had happened to her? Why did she look so pale and frail?
Jackson immediately ran over to the door of another bedroom. This time, when he opened the door, he found Jaclyn lying unconscious in a bed with her hands and legs tied. He felt his blood boil; how could they do this to his sister? He ran over and shook his sister awake. ”Jaclyn, wake up. Are you OK?” he asked.
Jaclyn gently opened her eyes in confusion and saw her brother. ”Jackson, what are you doing here?” she asked as tears began to stream from her eyes. ”Tell them you're a big gangster boss and make them let me go!”
”Don't worry, I will get you out of here. Did they hurt you or do anything to you?” Jackson asked as he untied the young woman.
Jaclyn slowly shook her head and trembled a little. ”No, I only arrived not long ago. But, there's a woman next door that arrived before me. Did you see her?”
Jackson nodded his head. ”My friend is helping her at the moment,” he said as he led his sister back out to the living room where her captors were lying face down on the floor.
”You can't let her go!” Mia yelled when she saw Jaclyn.
Jaclyn rubbed her wrists and clenched her fists anxiously as Jackson stormed over to the man and woman. He then pulled out his badge and said, ”You are under arrest for the kidnapping of Jaclyn Wu and suspected involvement with an international human smuggling ring. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.”
Mia turned her head anxiously, ”What? No, you can't arrest us! You've misunderstood! We didn't kidnap her and we aren't involved in human smuggling. We saved her!”
Halia kneeled down beside the woman. ”How have we misunderstood? We found another woman in here and she said she's been locked for a week now!”
At that moment, the topless young man said, ”I was helping her!”
”Helping? You are one sick man,” Trisha scowled.
”No, I am serious. Check my drawers, all my certification is inside. I am an addiction specialist. These women are addicted to heroin!” the man explained.
Halia and Jackson looked at the two Germans with doubt as Oliver walked over to one of the drawers.
”I saw my brother injecting Jaclyn with heroin and noticed she was developing an addiction to it, so I brought her here. I was addicted a few years ago and John helped me overcome it. Recently, he's been working with me on my alcohol addiction as well. He doesn't work for a fancy hospital or rehabilitation clinic, but he is really good and I trust him,” Mia explained. ”He's helped many people in the past.”
”If you're a specialist, why aren't you wearing any clothes?” Trisha asked the young man.
”Marie vomited all over me earlier,” the man explained just as the woman that Trisha helped began to dry retch in the corner.
Oliver flipped through the certificates in the drawers and furrowed his brows. ”He's telling the truth. These are legitimate doc.u.ments!”
At that moment, Jackson turned his head and looked around. ”Where did Jaclyn go?” he asked.
