Chapter 170 - Confessions Of A Murderer (1/2)
Inside Trojan's hospital room, Alexander and the other officer stared at the woman in front of them and slowly backed away. Alexander was confused: how did this woman even get past the officers outside? Were the officers so amateur that they didn't check the woman's ID?
Impossible.
Someone definitely helped her.
The woman held onto her gun steadily with one hand and began approaching Trojan. She then pulled out a syringe and directed it towards the man's neck. All she had to do was inject him and the police would have no leads.
As she focused on Trojan, Alexander slowly reached his hand down to grab his own gun. But, the woman noticed some movement from the corner of her eyes and quickly glared at Alexander and the other officer, ”Hands high above your head where I can see them!”
Alexander and the officer quickly raised their arms to the sky.
”You won't get away with this,” the officer warned.
”I know. But, I'd still prefer to be alive...” the woman said.
Alexander could tell by the woman's tone that she had no choice. It seemed, if she didn't kill Trojan then she would be dead.
”If you want to live, I suggest you turn yourself in and become a witness. If you can provide us with useful information, not only will you live, but you will actually get to spend some of that time out of jail,” Alexander said. ”If you kill Officer Rong, you will live, but you may spend the rest of your life behind bars. What's the point?”
The woman's eyes twitched a little as she held onto the syringe and hesitated. What Alexander said was true, but she knew there was a huge organization of corruption lurking in the shadows. If she betrayed them, then they would definitely find a way to make her life hell. She couldn't take the risk.
But, just as she was standing there hesitating, a loud bang suddenly echoed through her ears and a sharp pain in her hand caused her to drop the gun she was holding.
She glanced down in shock and realized she had been shot as blood started dripping from her left hand. She looked up in a panic and saw that Alexander and the other officer still had their arms in the air. Where did the shot come from? Alexander was right, she had a man outside distracting the other officers, so she was confident that they had no idea what she was doing inside.
That's when she spotted a slight gap in the hospital room door. Someone shot her through the gap. There was someone outside. Disregarding the person and her injured hand, she focused on the syringe that was still in her left hand and charged towards Trojan. This was her last chance. But, another shot suddenly rang through the room. This time, the bullet pierced straight through the woman's back and she fell to the ground in a lifeless manner.
Alexander quickly dropped his arms and looked towards the door.
Jackson and Sean stepped inside cautiously. While Sean went to check on the woman, Jackson turned to the other officer in the room and said, ”The Chief Superintendent has handed this case to us. You and your men can step down.”
