Chapter 144 - Case File 1/25 (1/2)

After arriving back at her hotel room, Halia poured a cup of tea for her father and calmly explained the misunderstanding between her and Emerson. ”Dad, I have a boyfriend, but it's not Emerson. Give me some time, I will introduce you to him later,” Halia said.

Father Feng looked at his daughter worriedly and sighed, ”Ever since that one boyfriend in high school, I've never seen you with a man again.”

”Precious, can you be honest with me? I've heard rumors about you and Natalie. If they're true, you can just tell me; I am very open-minded. After all, I've always treated Natalie as my own daughter and Pumpkin as my own grandson,” the old man said.

Halia shook her head and laughed, ”No, I'm very much in love with a man. A very manly man, in fact. Someone that's righteous, brave and heroic. I'm sure you will approve of him.”

Father Feng smiled excitedly, ”I look forward to meeting him, then. Even though I'm a little disappointed that Jack and I can't be in-laws.”

Halia smiled to herself. Her father had no idea that she was in love with Jack Wu's other son.

”But, I'm curious, why did Natalie take time off to come to Macau then? I thought she came to look for you,” Father Feng said.

”Natalie's in Macau? I had no idea about that!” Halia exclaimed. ”Maybe she didn't know I was here either. Let me call her!”

Father Feng watched in curiosity as Halia picked up her phone, ”Nat! Dad and I are both in Macau and he told me that you're here too! Where are you? Let's meet up!”

”What? You were in Hong Kong for the day? You went to Disneyland?”

”Wait! Do I hear Pumpkin's voice? Did you bring him too?”

”Hey! Who is he talking to?”

”Is that a man I hear?!!”

When Father Feng heard this last question, he immediately grabbed Halia's phone in excitement. ”Have you found Pumpkin a father?” he asked straightforwardly.

On the other end of the phone, Natalie glanced at Sean and Pumpkin awkwardly. How was she supposed to reply to so many embarrassing questions? Worst of all, they were inside a car together and she was sure they could hear her conversation.

”Who are you talking to, Mommy?” Little Pumpkin asked.

”It's Grandpa Henry and Auntie Haili,” Natalie replied.

The little boy clapped his hands in excitement and quickly grabbed the phone from Natalie's hands. Natalie looked at the boy in surprise but gave a sigh of relief. At least, her son had saved her from having to answer all those awkward questions.
