Chapter 48 - Countdown (1/2)
Jackson panicked as he looked up.
”Hello, Jackson,” a familiar voice said in French.
”What's this?” Jackson asked as he glared curiously at the man that he thought he successfully befriended.
It was Remy Durand's henchman.
”I'm sorry for surprising you, Mr. Wu,” the French man said.
”You see, Mr. Durand is very particular about the people he works with.”
The man then put down a case of tools in front of Jackson.
”A few days ago, we were approached by one of your competitors. As expected, everyone wants to work with Mr. Durand. But, as you know, Mr. Durand only works with the best,” the man smiled.
He then continued, ”So, to pick the best, Mr. Durand thought of a way to test the two of you. He asked your competitor to build a bomb...”
”This bomb is currently strapped to your body!” the man pointed to Jackson's vest.
”If you can defuse it before it explodes, then it will prove your abilities. You have all the tools you need in front of you. As you can see, you have two hours,” he explained.
”Two hours? That's not enough time!” Jackson complained.
”I trust that if you're as good as you say you are, you will be able to do it. I will be waiting for you at your favorite club. I hope to see you there,” the man shrugged before he turned to leave.
As he stepped out of the cabin, Remy Durand's henchman pressed a button in his hand and the timer on Jackson's chest began to count down.
Jackson quickly searched his pockets, but of course, the men had already taken his phone when they were putting on his vest.
He then looked down at the multitude of wires on his body and a bead of sweat trickled down the side of his face.
”F*ck!” he swore as he picked up a pair of pliers.
...
Meanwhile, over at the karaoke bar, Halia had already sorted through 2 of the 3 tubs. This was child's play for her. She could practically touch a bullet without looking at it and she knew immediately what it was.
Jackson's three men watched in amazement. This was something that Jackson often got them to do for him.
But, Jackson had only left about 40 minutes ago and Halia was almost finished sorting through something that normally took them 2 hours to do...
How were they going to hold out until Jackson got back? He had specifically told them to not let Halia leave.
