Chapter 22 - Manhunt (2/2)

Alex slowly untied the rope that was tied around Halia. The rope was just to keep her in place, but she didn't actually have any strength to fight back, nor was she conscious enough to do so.

She looked up at him and giggled, ”Fun!”

Alex smirked and sat back on his chair. He then turned on some music, ”Halia, dance!”

Halia listened to the beat of the music and felt her body naturally moving to the rhythm. It was like she was possessed. The vibration from the bass made her heart beat and the treble sent tingles down her spine.

After a few songs, she started to get hot and sweaty, so she removed her coat.

Alex smirked and continued watching. He liked feeling like he was in control and he liked seeing his victims 'perform' in front of him. It was like he was a king on a throne and they were trying to please him. It was very different to the inferiority he felt as a nurse.

”Halia, keep taking off your clothes if you're hot. It's just me, you don't have to be afraid,” he said.

Halia smiled and began to unbutton her shirt...

Alex had done this many times before: six times to be exact. He drugged his victims, made them perform in front of him, and when he was done, he'd make them sit down obediently while he proved to them that he was as skilled as a doctor. That he had the ability to cut open a live human with one clean cut and had the ability to sentence a person to death like a God.

Actually, he never knew he was capable of killing until 3 months ago when he came across his ex-girlfriend at a restaurant. It had already been 6 months since they broke up.

Back when they first met, he had just started his first placement at the hospital and he decided to visit the bar with his colleagues. As soon as he arrived, he realized some girls had specifically come to the bar to meet doctors from PUH because they knew they frequented the place.

When he went to the bathroom, a beautiful young woman approached him and asked, ”I saw you sitting at the doctor's table, do you know Dr. Isaac Yan? I've heard a lot about him and always wanted to meet him.”

As soon as Alex saw the woman, he believed it was love at first sight. She was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Unwilling to give her away to someone else, he ended up lying ”I'm Dr. Yan.”

Because of this lie, the woman went home with him and they quickly started a relationship. He thought she was truly in love with him, but he quickly realized she was a gold digger that was only with him because she thought he was a doctor.

Of course, it didn't take long before his lie was exposed. As soon as the woman found out, she immediately broke up with him, ”You're just a lousy nurse, how dare you pretend to be a doctor. You're nothing but a disgusting liar!”

At that time, he was completely heartbroken, but it wasn't until he ran into her 6 months later at the restaurant, that he was triggered to kill.

That day, she was on a blind date with a businessman and he overheard her talking, ”Do you have proof that you're really a manager at a bank? You see, my ex was a lousy liar that pretended to be a doctor when he was actually a nurse. I mean, even if he was on a similar level to a doctor, I would have settled for him, but a nurse is nothing. Nurses are no different to cleaners or maids. I never want to end up with someone like that again!”

Her words made his blood boil.
