Chapter 7 - Jackson Wu (1/2)
”Hello there, gorgeous. I've never had a nurse girlfriend before, do you want to be the first?” one of the friends asked with a grin that revealed his awfully crooked teeth. It was a surprise that he ever even had a girlfriend at all.
”Hey, Kev, I was the one that spotted her first,” a second friend said as he pushed the crooked teeth guy away. This guy was on the heavier side of the scale and had a husky voice like he had smoked too many cigarettes.
”Oh come on, I'm the best looking one here. If she's going to choose someone, she's definitely choosing me,” the third friend winked at Halia as he ran his fingers through his greasy hair.
Halia rolled her eyes in disgust. These guys didn't know who they were dealing with. Who did they think she was? Some weak little nurse?
”I need to get back to work,” Halia said calmly as she walked around the three men and tried to get away.
At that moment, one of the three men quickly grabbed onto her shoulder. But, to his surprise, Halia latched onto his arm, flipped him over and threw him on the floor with a thud.
Everyone in the hospital looked over in shock. Did a nurse just attack a visitor?
Halia quickly raised her hands innocently. She surprised herself too. She had learned some moves during her time in the police academy, but this was the first time she actually applied it in real life. Who knew her reaction speed was so quick?
The man lay on the floor and looked up at Halia in surprise. This was the first friend that had spoken up earlier. ”Wow, I think I like you even more now.”
Halia scoffed and looked around at all the curious eyes, ”Sorry everyone, it was just a misunderstanding. You can go back to what you were doing.”
There was a bit of whispering and pointing, but everyone quickly went back to their own thing.
Everyone except the patient that the three men had come to visit.
He had been holding a magazine and ignoring everything up until that point. But, his eyes had now fallen on Halia with curiosity. ”I see you've done some training,” he commented.
Halia looked up at the man awkwardly. This was the first time she had looked at him properly. People often said that pretty girls kept ugly friends around them to make themselves look better. Well, the same theory applied here, because this man was definitely good looking. But, his eyes were so cold that they felt like icicles piercing through her chest. Halia quickly avoided his gaze and cleared her throat, ”Just a bit of self defence. Patients and visitors can get a little unruly sometimes.”
The man's lips curved upwards into a slight smirk.
