He figured all the Chens’ relatives and friends would show up at his wedding ceremony, and that person he had been waiting for would come back.

Whenever Zhao Yuan had business matters to discuss with me, he had always asked you and the deputy general manager of your company to meet me because he didn’t want to see me. If he finds out that the new deputy general manager is Chen Yuanxi, I don’t know what he will do. You know better than I do what he has done for Chen Yuanxi,” Chen Wanxin said. “If you can help me hide the news, I will do everything possible to create opportunities for you to stay with Chen Yuanxi. After all, I’m the general manager. He has to follow my instructions at work and for external contacts after returning,” Chen Wanxin continued.

“But Wenxi is your younger brother. How can I hide the news of your wedding from him?” Shu Xiaoman asked.

“I will arrange for him to return to the United States. You don’t need to worry about that.” Chen Wanxin looked down.

“Why should I help you? I still remember what you did before,” Shu Xiaoman said with a smile.

“Things are different now. We have never been enemies. You were so naive that you wanted Chen Yuanxi and A Yuan to be together. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have done those to you. Now, we have the same goal. We each take what we want. That’s all,” Chen Wanxin said coldly.

“What if I still want them to be together?” Shu Xiaoman asked tentatively.

Now you are the only general manager’s assistant of your company, and Zhao Yuan gave you many shares, so if any rumors about him and Chen Yuanxi spread and what had happened between them was made known to the public, what will happen to your company? She saw a familiar figure in the Mercedes as it slowly came out of the gate. Shu Xiaoman rushed to the car and stopped it. The man inside hesitated for a while before finally opening the door.

It had been six years!

However, he seemed to be the same as all other successful men. Shu Xiaoman sized him up, trying to find something different about him. He was very strange and polite to her with a faint smile on his face. “Is he really Lin Wenxi?” Shu Xiaoman wondered.

“Wenxi?” Shu Xiaoman called his name in a trembling voice.

“Hi, Xiaoman!” He was still frank and confident, but when he called her name, he was not as loving and dependent as before. He did not greet her like an old friend he had not seen for a long time. It seemed he had known what would happen a long time ago—they would meet each other, and they would just treat each other like strangers.

“By the way, my surname is Chen, and my given name is Yuanxi.” With that, he handed her a business card with a smile.

Shu Xiaoman felt the business card seemed to weigh a thousand pounds, and it was hard for her to carry it. She stared in horror at the hot-stamping name on the business card—Chen Yuanxi.
