C3145 Versailles Celebration (1/2)
The news of the assassination of the General Prim began to spread like wildfire over Europe. If there was some social investigation company in this era that analyzed the public opinion support ratings of the Chinese people and Spain, Xiao Letian would definitely be able to see that his support ratings were affected greatly and were starting to slip and decline!
Assassination had a long history. It was very simple and effective, but it was also very despicable!
The public's tolerance for assassinations was very low. Generally, other than those chivalrous men who killed evil people, assassinations of other kinds were intolerable.
You said you were being reasonable. If you had any evidence, you could just put it on the table for analysis, even if it would only be an exchange of benefits. In any case, there was only one thing in life that could be considered as a business negotiation.
What was the meaning of having a physical body destroyed? This meant that there was no reason at all for you to argue!
All of a sudden, the direction of public opinion changed. The voices of doubters began to walk, and the sounds of quarrels in public places in countless cities became louder and louder.
However, Xiao Letian was too lazy to retaliate, because the focus was not on public opinion but Paris!
January 18, 1871, the small city of Versailles on the outskirts of southwest Paris had become a sea of celebration!
In the cold north wind, countless rose petals floated along the street. The pretty French girl stood on the balcony of the second floor with a flower basket in his hand. The basket was filled to the brim with rose petals planted in the greenhouse.
Fragrant rose petals are shipped from southern Spain and Tunisia, and only the warm rooms there can grow fragrant red roses in winter.
On the streets, Prussian soldier s with pointed helmets were everywhere. Their leather boots were shining brightly and their military uniform did not have any wrinkles. Their chin was raised high and their faces were flushed with excitement.
These soldiers were coming in from the country, one step at a time, one step at a time. They didn't even have a single scratch on their new rifles.
Behind these soldiers, were the French Leading Party, which was also the welcoming party organized by the royalist party. The young masters and mistresses of noble families were squeezed at the front, and behind them were many confused and foolish French peasants.
They didn't know what was going on, nor did they know who to welcome. Since the nobleman had given them a few coins, they might as well come!
The main road of Versailles was almost covered with petals, Prussian flags were stuck into the roofs of the buildings, this street led straight to the Versailles, and the knights in European classical armour were all ready at the palace gates.
The court musicians began to play the welcoming horn, and the bands all over the city began to play a joyous sonata!
”It's here!” It's here! ”It's here …” Amidst the cheers of the crowd, the cheerful sounds of horses' hooves could be heard in the distance. Soon after, a pair of cavalry soldiers with flags in their hands appeared in their line of sight.
The horse was tall and big. It was pitch black and it didn't have a single hair. The cavalry on the horse was as straight as a javelin. They held different kinds of flags in their hands and a huge flag formation appeared on the street.
”Long live!” The members of the France who were leading the way, were the first to start cheering, just like when they welcomed Napoleon III.
After the flag formation came the spear formation, followed by the cavalry raised their heads and puffed up their chests, then the rows after rows of cavalry with sabers, and finally the cavalry phalanx carrying modern rifles.
The four large phalanx of military drum moved forward in unison, and behind them suddenly appeared a British Dwarf Horse!
The pony was a full meter shorter than the surrounding cavalry, and on its back was a child wearing a military uniform. From the looks of it, he was only 11 to 12 years old!
