C2899 French Emperor surrendered (1/2)
On the way out of the Sedan Stronghold, Napoleon's heart was very heavy. Outside the city walls were the farmland and forests, the two sides of the road were filled with the corpses of the people who died in battle.
As the battle had only lasted one night, both sides had no time to clean up the battlefield. The Prussian had simply buried the remains of the people on his side, while no one cared about the remains of the people on his side.
All sorts of French soldiers laid on the ground in all different corners of the battlefield, weapons, ammunition and military flags were scattered all over the place.
Looking at the pairs of eyes that died with grievance, French Emperor had a great repudiation of his own life for the first time. His former haughtiness had vanished now.
When Member of Parliament Raul saw the sorrow in His Majesty's eyes, he hurriedly said in a low voice, ”Increase our speed, let's leave this place quickly …”
On both sides of the road, there were Prussian soldier s who were just watching the show. Although these soldiers hated the French Emperor, the Emperor Nobility of that era still had a lot of pressure on the ordinary people.
The soldiers did not make any noise or mock him. They just watched the carriage pass by quietly. They were witnessing history!
Xiao Letian was very faithful to his promise. Since he promised Bismark that he would not cause trouble, then today, he would not let even one of his soldiers out of the camp.
The two thousand warriors of the Hua Clan were stationed at their own resting area. This could be considered as Xiao Letian giving the last bit of face to the French Emperor.
Atop the tall Qi Bolin airship, Xiao Letian used his binoculars to look at the French Emperor approaching from the north, he said in a lonely voice, ”Ah … ”I was really unwilling to see such a historic moment with my own eyes …”
”Qi Bolin... Leaning the airship over there, I used my binoculars to watch the show, but no one cares about me anymore, right? ”
The meeting point for the French Emperor and Bismark was a mill five kilometers north of Sedan City. This was a hilly area outside the city, and was the perfect place to look down from above. The hills were filled with ancient trees, many of them over a hundred years old.
When the emperor's carriage arrived, they saw the Prussian guards on the hills. These soldiers saluted the emperor on both sides of the road. Even the defeated emperor was fully respected by them.
After passing by a large tree, French Emperor finally saw Bismark riding a warhorse!
Bismark today was dressed in a military uniform, the riding boots over his knees had been polished until they were shining, and on the top of his head was a standard Prussian pointed metal helmet that was decorated with extremely complicated patterns!
The navy blue military uniform was embroidered with gold thread and an iron cross hung at the collar, sparkling!
The carefully trimmed beard fluttered with the wind, as if he had something to say. What was even more exaggerated was that the sword on his waist was a gift from William I, it was at least 1.5 metres long, and even the sword sheath on his horse almost fell to the ground.
The Prime Minister, who had not slept for the whole night, was in high spirits at this moment. The many years of hard work had finally come to an end!
Seeing that the French Emperor's carriage had appeared, Bismark urged his horse to head over to French Emperor's side. He jumped down from his warhorse and saluted the French Emperor.
”We pay our respects to Your Majesty! ”Good day to you!”
There was still a high and low status in society. Even if it was the defeated emperor, he was still an emperor, and a subject like Bismark could not be humiliated like that.
Napoleon III looked at Bismark for a good half a minute. How long have we not seen each other? ”
”Your Majesty, it has been eight years since I visited London and Paris in 1862!”
”It's been eight years! He actually changed so much … ”In the past, you were my honored guest, but today, I have become your prisoner …”
