”Don't worry Boss, I will find out!”
After a period of time, Shen I went around to Old Zhao Liu's house on purpose and met the mute several times. Every time, Shen I gave him food. After more than a year, the mute finally gave him a note.
As if nothing had happened, he took it back to the rented house. When he opened it, he found that it was a cloth strip with only one word written on it by coal:
”Danger!”
”Does he mean I am dangerous, or this place is dangerous?” Shen I wanted to think, then he took out his cellphone.
A few days later, a foreign car was passing through the village and killed two pigs. The young men in the car still had a bad attitude and were about to collaborate. The villagers shouted at the top of their voices and the entire village went to help.
Shen I took advantage of the chaos to find the mute. ”Write down everything you know and I promise to take you away safely.”
The mute whined a few times and cried. Then he quickly took the pen and paper and wrote a passage. He was basically not civilized, many of the words were misordered or misspelled. Shen I read it with some difficulty, but he still understood the meaning. Even though it was him, his face became very ugly.
”I'll take you away.” He put away the paper and helped the mute leave.
The villagers over there had already finished quarreling and asked the driver who caused the accident to go to the county town and buy two pigs as compensation. Not long after returning to the village, Old Zhao Liu was heard shouting there.
”The mute is dead, the mute is dead!”
Everyone ran out again. As Shen I followed, he saw Old Zhao Liu and asked him intentionally, ”How did he die? Where is he?”
”In the cesspool over there.” Old Zhao Liu led everyone over. Sure enough, looking inside the cesspool, they saw a floating man, whose clothes and dark face indeed were the mute's.

So, several people fished the body out with a bamboo pole. Old Zhao Liu stared at the body's face carefully for half a day, gritting his teeth and pulling human excrement and dirt away from the mute's face.
”Is that the mute?” someone nearby asked.
Old Zhao Liu also muttered in his heart. Shen I lifted the corner of his mouth. ”Turns out the black things on his face are scars, do you recognize him?”
”That's him!” Old Zhao Liu could only admit it.
Afterward, everyone went to find a piece of land on the mountain behind the village to bury the mute in. Old Zhao Liu cried. Seven days after the mute had passed away, the villagers found Shen I standing at the entrance of the village with his luggage.
”Are you leaving?” A few people gathered around him.
Shen I said with some sadness, ”It's no use staying. My uncle's whereabouts are unknown. My aunt went to the hospital yesterday. I have to go back and take care of her.”
”Really, why didn't you say so earlier? At least have a meal before you leave!” Some people wanted to keep him longer. ”Why don't you have lunch at noon and leave in the afternoon?”
Shen I pointed to the road and said, ”Thank you, everyone. My car is here!”
When the villagers looked at it, they saw that a car was slowly stopping at the edge of the village. As soon as Shen I got in the car, he waved at everyone. ”Bye-bye!”
”Boss!” The person sitting in the car was surprisingly Shen Xinglan.
Shen I drank a big mouthful of water. ”I think the people behind this are animals!”
The mute man told him the truth, that a group of people suddenly came to the village more than 10 years ago at night. They killed everyone when they entered the village. All over 70 people died there.
Even the wind in the mountains smelled bloody that night. No one knew that a human tragedy was unfolding inside this remote village.
”What did the mute say after that?” Shen I was asked by Shen II, who was driving.
Shen II had transferred the mute, and the mute told him that the people that were now in the village had been arranged to come in later according to the previous population allocation of the village. In addition...

Now, two years later, they still had not found anything.
”Boss.” Shen II came in. ”Here comes the young lady.”
The cold look of Shen Xinglan suddenly softened. ”Which hotel does she stay in?”
