When Tao Jian is talking with Zhen Mingzhi about the case, a man with a file pocket runs in hurriedly and says, “Chief Tao, there is new information from the victim.”
The man is Chen Yu, who is in charge of the case.
“What information?” Tao Jian stares at him seriously.
Chen Yu opens the file pocket and takes out a pile of documents.
Tao Jian becomes impatient, “Tell me directly.”
Chen Yu reports quickly while putting the documents inside, “After receiving your instruction, we went to the hospital again and asked Xu Ziqiang…”
“Get to the point.”
“Xu Ziqiang said he had gazed at a girl before he was beaten by Lin Yongcheng.”
Tao Jian questions, “Only gazed?”
Chen Yu’s voice turns lower, “This is what Xu Ziqiang said.”
Fu Zhengzheng asks, “Do you know who the girl is?”
Chen Yu replies embarrassedly, “Xu Ziqiang said he didn’t know her. We haven’t found the girl’s identity. I’m not clear whether Lin Yongcheng knows the girl.”
Tao Jian points to Chen Yu and orders, “Bring…ask Lin Yongcheng here right now.”
“Yes.” Chen Yu walks out in haste.
Tao Jian turns around and says to Zhen Mingzhi with a smile, “Xu Ziqiang is a rogue. If he just gazed at a girl as he said, his ribs shouldn’t have been broken. If the girl can be found and explains the situation, it will be favorable to Lin Yongcheng.”
Zhen Mingzhi doesn’t agree with him and just asks drily, “Now that he knows it will be favorable to himself, why didn’t he confess before?”
“Well, maybe he doesn’t know the girl either.” Tao Jian wipes his sweat. Since Zhen Mingzhi called till now, he has just got a rough idea of the case, because he doesn’t have enough time to ask in detail. He pauses and then states, “If he can tell us some characters of the girl, we might be able to find her. After all, C City is not big.”
Zhen Mingzhi nods slightly and doesn’t say anything.
Fu Zhengzheng moves close to Han Siqi and whispers, “Yongcheng is not silly. You also say he usually knows how far to go and when to stop. I guess Yongcheng knows the girl, but he doesn’t want to reveal her name.”
When Han Siqi is about to open mouth, Chen Yu brings Lin Yongcheng over.
Tao Jian comes up first and asks, “Lin Yongcheng, was it only because Xu Ziqiang was disagreeable to your eyes that you beat him?”
Lin Yongcheng glimpses Han Siqi who is staring at him, drops his eyes and nods.
“You’re lying! Was it because the girl?”
Lin Yongcheng doesn’t raise his head and asks lightly and quietly, “Which girl?”
Tao Jian stares at him, “Ask yourself.”
Lin Yongcheng replies, “I don’t know.”
Fu Zhengzheng winks at Han Siqi: I’m right.
Tao Jian doesn’t give up, “Don’t you know the girl, or don’t you know that Xu Ziqiang molested the girl?”
Lin Yongcheng says, “I don’t know that.”
Tao Jian wants to ask another question, but Zhen Mingzhi points to Lin Yongcheng and starts to talk first, “Take him back to think about it.”
“Dad!” Fu Zhengzheng calls her dad anxiously. Zhen Mingzhi waves instantly, signaling her to shut up. Fu Zhengzheng looks at Han Siqi helplessly. Han Siqi shakes head towards her. She shrugs and says nothing more.
Tao Jain waves at Chen Yu who understands his meaning and takes Lin Yongcheng out.
Zhen Mingzhi rises. Fu Zhengzheng and Han Siqi go to support him at once.
Finding Zhen Mingzhi is ready to leave, Tao Jian says immediately, “I’ll order Chen Yu to make a thorough investigation of it.”
Turning aside to look at Fu Zhengzheng who looks depressed, Tao Jian hesitates and asks, “Lin Yongcheng…”
“Look after him. He is not a bad guy.”
Tao Jian understands his meaning and nods heavily.
Zhen Mingzhi turns aside and says to Fu Zhengzheng, “Let’s go back.”
“Oh.” Fu Zhengzheng has no choice but to support him to go out.
Tao Jian who walks behind them thinks of something suddenly and takes out his phone to make a call, “Arrange a car to the gate.”
Han Siqi who remained silent thinks of Zhen Mingzhi’s examination, looks at the time and says, “It’s past 4:00. I’m afraid it’s late to go to the hospital for examination.”
“Go home.” Zhen Mingzhi says without turning around.
They return to Urban Pearl in the police car.
After the car leaves, Fu Zhengzheng is about to help her father enter when Zhen Mingzhi asks suddenly, “You know that girl, right?”
Fu Zhengzheng knows who her father refers to and shakes the head slightly, “We are not sure. It’s only our speculation.”
Finding her father is looking at her, she explains, “When I walked with Siqi the other day, I saw him stay with a beautiful girl. We doubt it might be that girl.”
“He protects the girl in this way. It means the girl is very important to him. When you find the girl, pay attention to what and how you say. Don’t offend her, or Yongcheng will blame you.” Then Zhen Mingzhi pushes away his daughter’s hands lightly and walks towards the house.
Fu Zhengzheng doesn’t understand why her father stopped her from asking for releasing Lin Yongcheng on bail until now. She admires her father even more.
Recalling that she pulled a long face towards her father, she is ashamed, “Dad, let me help you.”
“Not necessary.” Zhen Mingzhi waves, “Call me if you need help.”
“Thanks, dad. Walk slowly.” Fu Zhengzheng shouts behind her father.
Her father doesn’t turn around. She turns around to look at Han Siqi, and he is smiling at her.
“You saw through dad’s intention?”
Han Siqi nods and holds her to walk outside.
Fu Zhengzheng grins and asks, “Where shall we look for the girl first?’
“The hospital.”
“But we don’t know the girl’s appearance. Can we find her only with her figure?” Fu Zhengzheng is a little worried.
