Chapter 322 A Major General of the Nobility (1/2)
A silver Rolls-Royce arrived at Plaza Hotel at Fifth Avenue, one of the top 10 premium hotels in the world. It was difficult to know whether it deserved its reputation. But everyone who stayed here would be the elite of high society, either very wealthy or an aristocrat.
Joanna got an attendant to park her car for her. She brought Ning Tao into the hotel.
The lobby was gilded and resplendent, with marble tiles and beams, huge crystal chandeliers and glass domes, adorned with complex patterns everywhere. The whole place resembled a palace.
Ning Tao was not only observing his surroundings but also the people here. The moment he entered the lobby, he summoned the states of looking and smelling of his eyes and nose. He swiftly scanned through every person. This was the US, the headquarters of Black Fire Company. He must proceed with caution in every step.
Ning Tao’s eyes soon stopped on a sofa. Two white men were sitting on the sofa, both in their 30s. They were very burly and made him wary. The reason why his eyes were locked on them was because they were both carrying guns.
Just as Ning Tao was observing them, one of the white men shifted his eyes and stared at him. He got up and walked over. The other white man also got up from the sofa and walked over with his companion.
Ning Tao’s right arm was by his side, ready to pull out his refined Mauser pistol any moment. Not only his refined Mauser pistol was there, but also his Unbreakable Fan and Blade of the Solar Eclipse. It seemed like a military belt girding his waist.
After unlocking the Scriptures & Scrolls Store II, he had discovered the Tianbao Weaving Method. But there were only three spiritual materials with him. He did not have the full seven which he would need to weave a magic garment, or he would have worn one here. The fabric woven using the Tianbao Weaving Method would be impervious to water and fire, as well as bullets and knives. He would not need to be anxious when confronting strangers with guns.
“Miss Joanna, you’re finally here.” The man in front greeted her and shifted his eyes to look at Ning Tao. “Is this the doctor from Hua Country you told us about?”
Joanna answered, “Yes, he’s the doctor I am recommending, Doctor Ning.”
“Why is he so young?” Doubt appeared in the man’s eyes.
Ning Tao had wanted to shake his hand and make acquaintance, but the man’s words and the expression in his eyes made Ning Tao’s interest wane.
Joanna shrugged her shoulders. “What has this got to do with his age?”
“I’d like to talk to you.” The man walked to one side.
“Tao, please wait a while for me.” Joanna also walked over.
Ning Tao watched the man converse with Joanna. The two of them had not walked far. He could still hear their faint voices.
“He looks like an intern who has just graduated from medical school. Are you sure he’s up to it?”
Joanna puffed her chest out slightly. “Today isn’t the first day we know each other. I’m standing right before you. Do you still doubt Doctor Ning’s medical skills?”
“Does he need to touch her bosom?” The man asked.
Joanna answered, “Of course. How can a doctor avoid contact with his patient? He will need to touch whatever part he is treating.”
The man’s gaze shifted to Ning Tao. At that instant, the expression in his eyes was fierce, full of hostility and wariness.
Ning Tao wondered in his heart. “Is this man in love with the princess? He’s so jealous! If all men were like this, how would male gynecologists survive?”
“She must decide this for herself. Follow me.” With these words, the man turned and headed for the elevator.
The other man also glanced at Ning Tao with an odd expression in his eyes. There was not only doubt, but also some inexplicable derision in them.
He could not blame them. He was shouldering a wooden small medicine chest and dressed casually. What was more, he was young. Few people in his country treated him as a miracle doctor, let alone European whites with a superiority complex.
Ning Tao only gave a faint smile. He did not care at all, walking noiselessly behind Joanna to the elevator.
As they walked, Joanna drew close to Ning Tao’s ear. She whispered, “This fellow is a major general of Ruitian’s special forces. His name is Harley Poche. His ancestors were aristocrats of Ruitian. He is a hereditary earl. The man with him ought to be his subordinate.”
Ning Tao merely nodded nonchalantly. He was too lazy to ask if his patient was the second or the youngest princess of Ruitian. He contemplated to himself that after treating the princess, he would take a trip to Italy. Zhu Hongyu’s skull fragment must be the main motive for this trip.
The elevator stopped on the uppermost floor of Plaza Hotel. People of stature all loved to stay on the top story. It was not only because it gave them a feeling of superiority. They could also better enjoy the scenery.
Outside the room was a burly white guard. There was an ear-mic around his ear. Ning Tao did not need any guess to know that his patient was staying in this room, watched by this commando guard.
Harley Poche brought Joanna and Ning Tao to the door. He reached out his hand, knocked and said something.
From inside came the voice of a woman talking. They spoke in the language of Ruitian.
