Chapter 309 Murphy’s Law (1/2)

The call was from Tang Zhen. She had not explained the reason, but had only asked Ning Tao to quickly come meet her in Beidu.

Ning Tao pushed the God’s Will electric motorbike out and left immediately. He did not know why exactly, but he had a bad feeling.

About half an hour later, Ning Tao arrived at Jiang Hao’s house. He knocked on the door.

Tang Zhen opened the door and immediately pulled Ning Tao in by his hand.

Ning Tao asked, “Auntie, did something happen?”

Tang Zhen released Ning Tao’s hand. Tears suddenly fell from her eyes.

The ominous feeling inside Ning Tao grew stronger. He began panicking. “Auntie, don’t cry. Tell me quickly, what happened?”

Tang Zhen sobbed as she said, “I haven’t been able to contact Jiang Hao for half a month. This has definitely never happened before. I’m so worried about her now. I don’t know what to do…”

Ning Tao grabbed Tang Zhen’s hand, soothing her using spiritual power. “Auntie, don’t panic. Perhaps Jiang Hao is on a special mission. You know, her work is of a special nature. It’s normal to be unable to contact her sometimes.”

Written on the note was: “Mom, I’m on a mission at the Institute of Biology in the Academy of Sciences. If I don’t return in half a month, you can contact Ning Tao and get him to come look for me.”

Ning Tao was filled with worries after reading this note. He thought to himself, “Could she have been infected during the project of ancestor-seeking and became…”

He did not dare to continue thinking, because if Jiang Hao had turned into a new demon, then she could only undergo treatment in the clinic. But once Jiang Hao entered the clinic to be treated, the only option was to cut out the demon root. Yet, that was the country’s valuable item. Who could cut it out? “Tao, I’m so worried. Could you accompany me to the Academy of Sciences to take a look?” Tang Zhen begged him.

Ning Tao nodded. “Okay, let’s go to the Academy of Sciences now.”

Tang Zhen started crying again. “Tao, you’re so good. It must be Jiang Hao’s good karma accumulated from her previous lives to have such a boyfriend like you. Once this matter is settled, I’ll pick a date for you two. I don’t need a dowry or anything. You two just have to go register your marriage and do it.”

Ning Tao was perplexed, but he did not explain and only said, “Auntie, we’ll talk about it after we see Jiang Hao.”

Tang Zhen sighed. “Sigh, you youngsters simply have to worry us.”

The God’s Will electric motorbike was driven out of the neighborhood and onto the roads. Following the navigation from the cellphone, it was headed toward the Academy of Sciences.

On the way, Ning Tao got a call from Qing Zhui.

“Brother Ning, have you moved?” It was the first thing that Qing Zhui asked.

Ning Tao said, “I’ve moved. I’m in Beidu now.”

“Beidu? It has moved to Beidu?”

Ning Tao said, “Yes. I have something urgent going on right now. Wait until I’m done here and I’ll go pick you up. Take care of Xiaoji.”

“Yup. I’ll be waiting for you at Sunshine Orphanage. You’re the mother who is worried for the child, so I’ll take care of her properly as the father,” Qing Zhui said and giggled.

Ning Tao was left embarrassed and awkward, and was also amused, but he could not laugh no matter what.

After traveling for about 30 kilometers, the God’s Will electric motorbike arrived at the Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Biology. It was a huge modern building, with a large courtyard and a few accompanying buildings. It was quite large.

The military police at the entrance stopped the God’s Will electric motorbike. They were still unable to get in even after Ning Tao spoke to them for a few minutes. It was only when Tang Zhen had notified them in tears that she was the mother of Jiang Hao and urgently needed to see her daughter that the military police had walked into the guards’ room to make a call for permission.

After making a call, that military policeman came out of the guards’ room. “Come register your identities and then follow me.”

Ning Tao and Tang Zhen registered on the visitor’s list, then followed the military policeman to the Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Biology.

The military police officer brought Ning Tao and Tang Zhen into a building then entered a lift and went up to the 11th floor. They entered a reception room, and he then said, “Please take a seat. I’ll get you some water. You may wait here for a while; someone will be coming to greet you.”

Ning Tao said that they did not need the water, but the military policeman had still poured him and Tang Zhen two cups of warm water, then left the reception room.
