9 Let Me Think - 3.1 (1/2)
Holding such a tiny fragile treasure in his small arms, coupled with the promise he made to his mother, Feng Li Zian couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of protectiveness and responsibility towards the wide-eyes baby that was blinked up at him cutely while he cradled her soft little body gently.
Her big amber gold eyes looked so clear and innocent and the lashes that framed it were thick yet delicate, making her gaze all the more moving.
Still just a baby yet can already influence another person's emotion with just by a mere look!
Feng Li Zian couldn't help but feel affection towards the adorably delicate little one.
Gently, Feng Li Zian slowly swayed his arms from side to side, rocking his little sister while he cooed at her making the baby respond with a variety of sounds as if trying to reply to the words Feng Li Zian had softly uttered.
The heartwarming sight of the two children brought a smile to every single person's face when one saw it, from the maids attending to the unconscious Feng madam, all the way to their father, Feng Bing Wen.
What no one realized is that beneath the innocent happiness that the little boy was exhibiting just by holding his sister were troubled thoughts that shouldn't belong to a child of such a tender age.
Feng Li Zian suddenly spoke out quietly out of the blue, ”Father, Li Zian would like to ask for some help...”
His usually playful yet timid voice now had an underlying tone of steel and seriousness in it, almost losing it's childlike innocence if not matched with the little boy's wide-eyed earnest look.
With a nod, Feng Bing Wen prompted his son to continue and explain further. ”Go on.”
With a deep breath, Feng Li Zian looked up and met his father's gaze. His clear brown eyes looked almost unfathomable, making you wonder what thoughts was hidden by those eyes.
The usual innocence and childlike wonder that was always present seemed to have disappeared to be replaced by a solemn and mature gaze that shouldn't belong to such a young child.
”Li Zian would like to ask father to stay at the capital to help protect mother and sister and teach Li Zian to become stronger so one can protect the family once father has to set off and join grandfather in the borders again. As your son, I, Li Zian am not willing to endure another attack by those who are threatened by our family and possesses ill intentions towards us! The only way to prevent that is for father to stay at the capital since I am not strong enough to fend the wolves off.”
Silence descended upon the room once Feng Li Zian finished talking. All the servants were shocked at the young master's vehement words and they couldn't help but bow their heads further and keep their eyes on the floor and remained silent. All of them knew that the people who attacked the Feng household took advantage of the fact that both the old and current patriarch was ordered by an imperial edict to go and lead their troops in the war against the Cangdi Kingdom.
”Not a word of what you heard leaves this room and if I hear any inkling of it being spread, the punishment is death. Understand?” Feng Bing Wen slowly stated, his deep voice exuded with a demanding presence as he eyed each servant sternly as they all nodded in agreement.
”Qing Yuan, please look after little Ai first. Li Zian, come with me.”
