42 Chapter 42 : The Way He Looks At Her (1/2)

Xiulan uncomfortably sneaked a peek at Hongqi who was happily munching the apples she peeled and sliced. The man was also staring at her quite strangely and there was a tinge of a playful glimmer in it.

He's currently comfortably resting in a VIP hospital room for a week now. The people in this hospital treated him like royalty. There were a lot of stand-by nurses and security guards outside as well.

The room was big and wide enough to play a street game yet Xiulan felt suffocated by his intense stare and how he treats her life they were official lovers. She felt cold sweats forming in her body. She didn't like the attention she was getting from him.

After that hugging moment on top of the rooftop a week ago, the way his eyes look at her were different from the usual cold and domineering Hongqi. His need for skinship were more prominent too. She just knew that something changed and she doesn't like to pinpoint what it was. She wanted to stay oblivious. She was not stupid or assuming. She fully knows there was a budding spring going inside Hongqi's head or heart or wherever. She has seen this many times back in her university days and when she was an employee to one of her father's friends when she still didn't have her own company. She just knew 'that' look from men and some women.

”Ehem,” Xiulan coughed to clear her throat and to remove this awkward atmosphere. ”I'm going to a meeting this afternoon and some of your artists are going to visit you later too. They'll be your first visitors from your company.” Xiulan started.

Xiulan strictly didn't allow any unrelated visitors to visit him for a whole week that's why this is the first day he'll meet and talk to visitors.

Xiulan badly wanted him to recuperate faster so she listed a lot of do's and don'ts. She didn't allow him to check any social media accounts to not stress himself since he's currently trending because of the disastrous event. She only wants him to have a good rest without anyone bothering him. She also told Secretary Yang Bo to be more careful in his reports and not to stress him more. Everyone thought she was too much but eventually gave up when Hongqi said that they should just follow her demands. Hongqi was delighted to see an extremely concerned Xiulan.

Xiulan only wanted Hongqi to recuperate quickly because she can't keep being his nanny any longer. Gosh, she must go back to work and she hasn't even reported properly to her university and father yet. She also has to treat and thank Dejiang for Zhu's amazing service and loyalty.

”How long is your meeting?” Hongqi didn't care much about his visitors. As possible he doesn't want any but his artists must be so worried about him. He at least must see them once in awhile to get their worried hearts put into peace.

”I think it'll take half a day. I'll be meeting a lot of foreign clients and I must respect their available schedule.” Xiulan informed and checks the time on her watch.

”At least try to come back early.” Hongqi reminded and gave her the puppy look.

Xiulan sighed. ”Hongqi, you're almost fine so you won't be needing me much here. You'll be discharged soon as well. Why not take the remaining days to talk to your concerned visitors?” Xiulan suggested. Hongqi's hospital days added to Xiulan's 'long vacation' and her company has been begging her to come back as soon as possible. Without her, the company will be in ruins. There were too many workloads that needed her approval and the clients are now angry because of the long delay.

”I will miss you if you don't come back early.” Hongqi smoothly said and pouted like a darn kid.

Xiulan raised her eyebrows at him and pierced her stare. Added to her uncomfortable impression towards this new type of Hongqi, he was so good in smoothly charging sweet nothings to her. She doesn't even know if it was a joke or he's already insinuating romance. And she deeply doesn't like the later.

”You are hopeless.” She's lost of words how to answer back. ”Your visitors will keep you company. By the way, what do you want to eat?” Xiulan asked. Lately, she has been cooking home-cooked meals for him by herself.

The fool requested that she must only serve him with food that she cooked, give him baths, change his clothes and accompany him in the comfort room. She was like treating an elderly. Though Xiulan might be in furious inside by Hongqi's bothersome requests, they became closer and Xiulan can now shout at him anytime she wants like they were good long time pals.

”I'm just going to answer this.” Xiulan excused herself and quickly fled out of the room.

Hongqi sighed seeing how Xiulan tries to avoid his 'love attacks'. He was good in flattering women and getting their hearts but this woman seems to be very cautious of this type of attacks.He has never seen her blush in any of his sweet nothings!

They were always together 24/7 for the past week and it was remarkable that he hasn't seen her getting giddy by his charms and ways. He must change his tactics. This wife of his is very different from the others and seems to have a very strong wall to guard her heart.

Because of this new found obsession, he focused on this instead of stressing out how to deal with the TERRO group. Now since it has come to this point, if he has her heart and loyalty, he can have his long time dream of having a good family. Cheesy but yeah he is human after all. His lavish and dark playboy days were part of his history and no one would ever thought he wanted a family.

Honestly, he was never into family planning and even marriage was not part of his plans in the first place but everything are on a different standpoint right now. He's thinking of long term personal goals from now on and Xiulan is now part of that.

He thinks that he can never genuinely fall in love with anyone anymore unless he knew that person for so long. Regarding marriage of convenience, he already got the best wife for that.

Now he only needs to make everything stay put in their respective places.
