17 Chapter 17 : Innocent Wife (2/2)

Yes, her favorite sister is Qiaohui because she always makes delicious desserts and she's not nosy like Nuo Shu.

Hongqi heard Xiulan's silent grievances. He didn't think much of it but he suddenly has a curiosity towards the Song family members. He must at least have basic information about them. He'll ask his secretary later to find some useful information about the Song family.

He must use the Song family to the extreme. Of course it took a long deliberation for him to agree on this marriage. He will try to make use of them to get the absolute control of this city and the rest. But of course he will not harm them. He will just use them for additional resource of connections.

When they entered the restaurant, the people's attention suddenly went to them and thick-faced unfamiliar people started greeting them again.

It was an exhausting walk before they manage to have a seat and ordered their food.

Xiulan was so exhausted and famish so she ordered a lot. She ordered a meal that can be eaten by three people. After all the hurdles before having her breakfast, who wouldn't get hungry and tired?

Hongqi was so surprised by Xiulan's generous orders. He inexplicably stared at Xiulan and looked at her figure, specifically her breast. Now he has an answer why they were slightly big for someone who has that kind of height. All the food she ate went there. Xiulan was only 5'2 feet and skinny.

Xiulan was busy eating her English breakfast when she noticed Hongqi's blatant staring and she caught his eyes on her chest. She squinted her eyes out of irritation and kicked Hongqi's knees to get his attention and deathly gave him a stare top stop whatever he was doing and thinking.

”Shameless man. Trying to stare at my chest in broad daylight.” Xiulan cursed in her heart.

”Yah, why are you so violent. You kicked me earlier too. I'm just appreciating the woman I married.” Hongqi reasoned out. But he was actually appreciating her body. But still he was appreciating her.

Xiulan didn't say anything but only gave him a warning look. They both ate in harmony after that but a handsome man who looks like he's in his late 30s wearing an expensive sleek suit suddenly greeted them.

”Xiu Xiu, I didn't know you got married yesterday. Congratulations by the way. I only knew it this morning.” The handsome uncle said. He was with a woman who has a very bold red lipstick and striking eyeshadow for a day look. She looks like she's gonna party with her outfit and makeup.

”Brother Yuxian.” Xiulan was surprised for a split second then smiled and greeted the handsome uncle.

She quickly glanced at his partner. ”So that's the woman who snatched brother Yuxian from big sister Qiaohui.” Xiulan muttered to herself. Xiulan moves her sight to his partner's hands and there was still no wedding ring. ”That's odd, I thought they got married. He and sister Qiaohui divorced two years ago. Hmm…” Xiulan was now confused. She remembered that Yuxian filed a divorce because he wanted to marry this woman. But why is there no ring?

Out of all her sisters' relationships, Qiaohui and Yuxian's split was the most heartbreaking for her. It was not because Yuxian was such a dutiful husband, but Yuxian never knew that Qiaohui loves him and it hurts to know that he will never know about that. If he ever knew about it, it will be too late.

Yuxian looked at Hongqi and greeted him as well and initiated to shake his hand. ”Congratulations, Young Master Xing. Our Xiu Xiu is a great girl, please treasure her.”

”Attorney Meng, it's been awhile. Thank you. Of course I will treasure her.” Hongqi shook Yuxian hands and endearingly glanced at Xiulan.

Xiulan awkwardly pursed her lips to a smile. ”What a good actor.” Xiulan thought.

”How come you know my Xiulan?” Hongqi suddenly probes. He was direct and the sudden question surprised Xiulan and Yuxian. Hongqi wanted to know why a prosecutor like Meng Yuxian has connections with an IT CEO and naive woman like Xiulan. The correlation was not there for them to have connections.

”It's so awkward to answer. Brother Yuxian is currently with his new lover.” Xiulan silently cursed Hongqi for being this blunt. She quickly glanced at Yuxian's partner and saw that her expression slightly became darker.

”Ah… haha… Uhmm…” Meng Yuxian awkwardly laughed and glanced at his partner. ”I'm…” he was about to answer but Xiulan took the words out of his mouth.

”He's big sister Qiaohui's ex-husband.” Xiulan quietly muttered to Hongqi. It will be so awkward to introduce oneself as someone's ex-husband.

”Oh, I see… We could have been brother-in-laws.” Hongqi decisively said and he looked so innocent while saying that.

Xiulan wanted to roll her eyes. ”How can he be so insensitive?”

”Ahaha… yes we could have been real brothers.” Meng Yuxian and played along. He looked at his partner and obviously she's becoming unconformable. ”Uhm… We should go first. Please enjoy your breakfast. Congratulations again.” Yuxian and his partner quickly retreated. But the woman gave a second glance to the newly weds and it made Xiulan bothered.

”The hell her problem is?” she silently murmured. Though it was not loud, Hongqi still managed to hear it and he curled his lips. Hongqi knew that Meng Yuxian's new woman is bad news.

”Meng Yuxian sure has bad taste. He wasn't able to even introduce the woman.” Hongqi said and elegantly poured tea over his cup and Xiulan's cup.

”Maybe he just forgot about it.” Xiulan naively said and continued eating her meal.

Hongqi curled his lips further and he thought how naive and innocent his wife. She's not aware of the bad people around her. It is quite depressing for Hongqi that he married a very innocent lady but at the same time it was a blessing.

It'll be easy for him to manipulate her but he must be cautious of the people surrounding her as well since she's very naive and innocent.
