37 Anna (1/2)

The darkness added to the snowstorm made the town seem even more eerie, Phillip almost drove past it if it wasn't for a single log cabin having it's lights on, he phoned Benson and got the precise adress. When they parked the Jeep they had to run in in order to get out of the blistering cold, of course Phillip insisted on getting the bags out, especially the weapon loaded duffle bag.

Inside the cabin the chunky fat man dropped in a chair infront of a fire place. Phillip shook his hand and sat down with Suzette.

”Bad shit got insane son, im telling you!” He blabbed through his fat lips and lit a cigar.

”This fucking place gives me the geepers, and i don't scare easy”

”Whats happening?”

”Im not entirely sure, but it feels supernatural, ya know? Not real shit, the wolves, the voice in the woods, rumors about a witch, fuck! I didn't sign up for this”

”You didn't sign up for anything Benson, you sponsored all of this” Phillip said making the man laugh.

”Yeah youre right, another adventure, it's the problem i have son, i have a shitload of money, but dont know how to spend it, i like sponsoring it instead to expeditions like this, gets my company name out and i get to go on a little fucking adventure. But now! I think i bit off more than i can chew”

”Whats the story with this voice?”

”Thay say during the Kenecott 'copper rush' back in the day, people swarmed in to make their fortunes, but they ended up working themselves to death. Youll see past McPherson, a town isolated from any roads deeper into the park, there's an old broken down railway running to the abandoned copper mine. Son! It spooks there, they say its all the dead miner's souls still trapped by the lust for money, and some say you can still hear the screams of falling miners, voices of other dead ones... So bad it is in fact that not even the government wants to expand real estate there, its, just too haunted. Construction workers refused to continue as they hear the voices and their tools keep disappearing from their belts, some even saw tombstones appear out of no where. Freaky shit son”

Phillip felt Suzette shrill next ro him.

”Ok, then this animal attack you speak of? What of that?”

”Thats bout the most fucked up thing I experienced so far, the bodies were torn well to pieces, wolves tare bodies apart yes, but not like that, some bodyparts are missing all together, bone and all, one boy can't be identified, his head is completely missing, and no one wants to go deeper into the forest to see if it wasn't maybe dragged off by a wolf, they're just to scared”

Phillip nodded rubbing his chin.

”Ok, lastly my father, i have his coordinates, id like to go look for him first, when did they say this blizzard wil clear?”

”Later today, but we just entered the three months of dark son, so be ready to move under constant torchlight”

”Months of dark?”

”For three months it will be total darkness day and night, it will be lighter during daytime, but still no sun. Akaska's placement on earth is responsible for that”

”Fok” Phillip said.

”Yes, fuck i say” Benson repeated.

”Where is this kill sight?”

Benson opened a map and pointed at a red circle. Phillip matched it to his coordinates.

”The kill sight is much closer, lets go there later on”

”Ok, Hot chocolate anyone?” Benson asked and Suzette's face lit up.

”Ooh, yes please” She happily said.

”Whats the story with that woman my dad wanted to go see about wolves?” Phillip asked as Benson placed the kettle on the fire.

”Her name is Anna, wierdest most beautiful native girl you'll ever meet, but boy is she strange, her accent is typical red indian, and she refuses to talk to people with a slightly more whiter scin than hers, she calls us outsiders, but she's the only native American girl here”

”You met her?”

”Yes, the bitch came in just this morning, i went over to her to ask of she could go help me find Bertus, but she slammed the fucking door in my face”

Phillip stood up ”Thank you for trying Benson, you have my respect”

”Sure son, i might be a millionaire, but im no fuckface, you can count on that”

Phillip took the AK out of the duffel bag and placed a mag in. Benson cheered seeing this.

”Fuck yea boy! Now there's shit commin!”

”Where does this Anna stay?”

”Last house down the street on the right”

”Ill be back, Suzie enjoy that coco”

Before she could say anything Phillip had the AK under his trenchcoat and was out the door.

The blizzard bit at him, but his recce training kicked in now, he hardened himself up against all elements, his father's life was at stake, and this teef slams a door shut in the face of potential rescue? He felt like shooting the door down but banged it instead.

She oppened it before his third knock fell, almost like she waited for him to come.

”What do you want!?” he asked, only het face visible iside the thick fur and leather coat, she looked almost like an eskimo.

”You Anna?”

”I am”

”I hear you know a thing or two about wolves?”

”I do” he couldn't really hear that accent in those short answers.

”My father is lost in the forest, please i need your help”

She looked up at his face, then scanned his body.

”Come back, when thad hideous wheapon has been burried, i shall not allow it in my home”

”What weapon?” He had the AK well hidden.

”That Kalashnikov!” She yelled slamming the door shut.

Phillip was so angry he could scream. He turned around, paced back to Benson's cabin, inside he stored the AK, and before the man and woman inside could say anything, he was out again. He didn't need that rifle now anyway, the trusty misther Smith and his friend Wesson was still on his hip.

Back at Anna's cabin he lfted his fist but she opened before he could knock and stood aside so he clould enter, then she closed quickly to keep the cold out.

”You are desperate” she said passing him with a glare.

”No shit hey! It my father's life is on the line”

”Chanses are hes already dead” She stirred soup in a caldron over the fire.

”Dont give me that shit!”

She glared at him again ”You speak foul to a host, have more respect”

”Benson came here yesterday to ask the same question, why did you shut him out?”

”Disrespect, he adressed me foully”

”Well then...” Phillip took a breath ”Im sorry, on his behalf aswell”

She nodded slowly ”The wolves in this area are unsettled, the elk is gone, they hunt anything that moves now”

”Why is the elk gone?”

She took a sip of her soup then slowly looked at him with her dark purple eyes ”The witch of the forest”

Phillip watched her closely for any sign of a joke. Benson was right, she had this exotic beauty about her, the kind you find in an fhm magazine, but not quite in a playboy. Her dark purple eyes a colour he has never seen in a set of eyes, and her tan native scin gave them perfect contrast. Her silk black hair wasnt dark, but not grey aswell, it was thick and twisted around her neck like a scarf, he estimated it to be atleast the length of her back. Finding nothing but serious on her face he started laughing.

”Witch hey? How do i know you're not the witch?”

She looked up from her soup again, that blank expression finally got a smile, but that smile made his gut not, as pretty as she was her smile was something out of a Stephen King novel.

”What makes you think that? Is it my caldron on the fire? My eye color? Or that i knew of your Kalashnikov?” She asked.

Phillip admitted to himself, all were traits of a witch, accept the eyes, hed give those beauties a slip.

”What about your house in the woods? The fact that you know so much about the wolves?”

Her smile disappeared and Phillip's guts untwined.

”Im not her” She stood upright ”Sit?” She asked.

He slowly took a seat and she handed him a bowl of soup.

”You didn't put a spell in this?” He smiled.

”I can smell it...” She took a bowl herself and filled it ”Its un mistakable... Kalashnikov, its horrid bark, still sounding in my nightmares, kah kah, kahkahkah, i hate it! Its the devil's weapon”

”I take it you had a bad run in with it?”
