The room was silent. The air was filled with the faint smell of poor perfume, and the thick curtains blocked the sunlight, making the room seem very dark.
Gu Ruoyun's heart was in a mess; she was truly in a mess. However, she had no choice but to control her emotions and her self-esteem.
At this moment, she understood that Chu Haolong had clearly said that they weren't suitable. Thus, at this moment, she didn't even have the courage to question him.
What were two people? Other than his childhood playmates, what else was there?
”Since you're awake, go home? Aunt Huan was worried about you all night. ”
Her voice was clear and cold, and her expression didn't show any signs of joy or anger. Even though she had just seen that scene, she wasn't moved at all, right?
Chu Haolong sneered. She didn't care, he didn't care, towards someone he didn't like, of course he couldn't care less. He was the one who thought too much, he thought too much into everything.
”What about you?” There was a trace of stubbornness in his tone. He wanted to fight for the last sliver of hope. Wasn't she worried about him? What was in her mind at this moment?
I thought she was going to make a scene, but there was nothing.
”Me? I accidentally hurt my foot last night and it hurt all night. ” The corners of her mouth curled up into a faint smile. Other than indifference, there was nothing else.
Chu Haolong's last bit of hope disappeared like smoke into thin air. It was like a fist hitting cotton. A feeling of powerlessness spread. He really couldn't do anything to her.
He lowered his head in defeat, and slowly said after a long while, ”Are we going back together?”
”I still have things to do. You can go back by yourself.” Gu Manxue raised her head and saw the kiss mark on his neck with a sharp gaze. A look of disgust flashed past her eyes.
”It's dirty of you to wash up before you go back.”
After she finished speaking, she could no longer stay. She walked out in large strides, her back straight as she maintained her last bit of self-respect.
When he walked out of the hotel, Mu Ran was standing outside the door. He smiled at her and supported her shoulder with a calm expression, ”Why didn't you say anything when your foot was injured?”
Gu Ruoyun raised an eyebrow. Her eyes were cold, but she didn't reject his good intentions.
”Being injured is my problem. Other than being pitied, what else can I gain from telling others? ”I'm the one who's in pain.” Gu Ruoyun indifferently said, her eyes filled with determination.
After all these years, she had learned not to learn anything but to be strong. She knew that no one could replace her pain, so she would not leave her expectations to anyone.
He would not reveal his weakest point in front of anyone, because it was unnecessary.
”You, ah, always give people the feeling of being distant from others.” Mu Ran lightly smiled as a conflicted expression appeared in his eyes.
”Is there?” A smile appeared on Gu Manxue's pale face, but anyone who saw it would feel that this smile didn't extend down to their very bones.
She just smiled, but she wasn't happy.
Did that mean that Chu Haolong's matter had some effect on her? Mu Ran's thoughts moved as he asked softly, ”Xiao Xue, will you forgive Hao Long?”
”It's my business.” Perhaps she felt that her words were a bit stiff, but she then said, ”No, that's his problem, it has nothing to do with me.”
Gu Ruoyun's words made Mu Ran feel very good. It seemed that she had really given up on Chu Yufeng and this show was not for nothing. At least Gu Ruoyun would not forgive him, so he would have a chance to get close to her.
It was unknown when it started to rain, but the weather had turned dark. She sighed, her eyes looking exceptionally cold.
”I have to go somewhere. Goodbye.”
Just when she was about to leave, Mu Ran once again held her hand. ”Xiao Xue, come to my house to eat tomorrow. My father said that he wants to meet you.”
”I …”
”It's a deal, I'll pick you up tomorrow.” Mu Ran ran away with a smile, not waiting for her to reject him at all.
The corner of Gu Ruoyun's mouth twitched. When she thought of Mu Heng, she would think of the days when she was together with Chu Haolong. Those memories were too hurtful.
She walked slowly in the drizzle like this. It didn't matter if the rain wet her clothes. It really didn't matter. Her heart suddenly hurt.
Could he really not care about it all? She raised her arm to look at her palm. Her palm was covered in blood from the pricking of her nails.
Raise your head, close your eyes, and let the rain wake you up.
”Must you torture yourself like this?”
Her heart suddenly tightened. She pretended to not care and turned around. Seeing Chu Haolong help her with the umbrella, her eyes turned distant.
”What?”
”Do you have to torture yourself like this?” Chu Haolong spoke word by word, his eyes became sad.
”You're thinking too much.” Gu Ruoyun sneered. Without waiting for him to continue speaking, she continued to walk forward and her arm was grabbed. She frowned, a conflicted look in her eyes.
”What for?”
