Yu Huan lifted her head and looked deeply at the astonished Yu Jin. She seemed to know that she had said something wrong and quickly covered her mouth with her hand.
”Feng, you have to help your brother-in-law.” Chu Lan held Chu Yufeng's hand and pleaded with a worried look on his face.
Chu Yufeng raised his head to look at Yu Chenlei with a taunting smile. ”I can't interfere in this matter. Besides, it's a hidden danger that was planted twenty years ago. What can I do to help?”
Yu Huan looked at them strangely. She didn't understand what they were talking about. What did they mean by 'hidden danger' from twenty years ago? What time was it?
”This is all my fault. I brought this upon myself, even without anyone's help.” Yu Chen Bao looked at Yu Huan. The sadness in her eyes was obvious. She sighed deeply and continued speaking.
”Huanhuan, I just hope that you won't misjudge me and miss out on your life.”
Yu Huan's mouth quivered as something flashed through her mind, but it was too fast and she wasn't able to grasp it. Just what was going on?
Yu Chenlei let out a deep sigh and went upstairs alone. Only then did Yu Huan notice the newspaper on the tea table. The headline was the investigation order for illegal goods of her company.
How could their company's stuff be illegal? She turned her gaze to Chu Yufeng. He was looking at her with suspicion in his eyes.
”The ring on your finger …” Aunt Lan pointed at the ring on Yu Huan's finger with a surprised expression.
Yu Huan was stunned for a moment, and the Rose Flower Ring appeared in front of them, ”Aunt Lan, you recognize this ring too?”
”How could I not recognize the ring that has been passed down from generation to generation in the Ming family?” Aunt Lan sighed deeply and looked away. Her eyes were full of unwillingness. She had never thought that the ring from the Ming family would be on her hand.
After returning to her room, Yu Huan felt exhausted and fell asleep. When she woke up, the sky was already dark.
She went downstairs and was surprised to find that she was alone in the house.
”Elder sister.” A weak voice came from behind her.
She turned around and looked at Yu Jin who was standing behind her. With a raise of her eyebrows, she asked, ”Why is it only the two of us in the house now?”
”Mom and Dad went out because of something, and Uncle also left.” As Yu Jin spoke to here, she carefully sized up Yu Huan's expression.
After hearing that Chu Yufeng had left, Yu Huan heaved a sigh of relief. The devil had finally left and it would be best if he never returned.
”Elder sister seems to have a good relationship with uncle.” Yu Jin asked tentatively.
Yu Huan's expression changed as she frowned and looked at Yu Jin. She felt a wave of boredom and didn't want others to put her together with Chu Yufeng.
”I'm fine.” As she finished speaking, she walked down the stairs. Right at that moment, her phone rang. Yu Huan frowned as she looked at the unfamiliar number. Her first reaction was Chu Yufeng. He answered the call after a while.
”Yu Huan, it's Gu Dong Cheng.”
With one sentence, all the nervousness in her heart was dispelled. She smiled and asked, ”Little Ze, is there something you need?”
”I'm outside your door. Can I come out for a moment?”
Yu Huan subconsciously cast her gaze outside the door as a thick smile appeared on her face, ”Alright, I'll be going now.”
She hurried downstairs, her face brimming with uncontrollable joy. This was the first time he had called her, and he had thought he would never contact her again.
At the staircase, Yu Jin stood at the side and watched Yu Huan happily leave. A trace of viciousness flashed across her eyes as she clenched her fists.
Outside, a brand-new Audi was parked, its windows open, one smoking hand leaning against the window.
With her hands behind her back, Yu Huan walked closer and softly said, ”Little Ze.”
Gu Dong Cheng pushed open the car door and crushed out the smoke. He wore a formal French handmade suit and stood in front of Yu Huan. His deep black eyes seemed to be covered with a mysterious layer of gauze, making him appear mysterious.
”Miss Yu, are we going for a walk?” he asked, strange and unfamiliar.
The happy expression on Yu Huan's face instantly dimmed. She couldn't stand his alienation any longer and raised her head to look into his eyes.
The two of them seemed to be separated by a whole world. They were so far away that they lost their initial passion. Their dim eyes drooped down as they nodded.
Gu Dong Cheng drove and looked out of the corner of his eyes at the woman sitting beside him. She obediently lowered her head and placed her hands by her sides. However, he easily noticed her disappointment.
Was this woman's disappointment due to his estrangement from her? Ye Zichen's expression turned darker, but he slightly exerted some force on the steering wheel.
”He didn't do anything to you that day, did he?” Gu Dongcheng awkwardly asked.
Yu Huan's pupils constricted for a moment. Only now did she realize that Gu Dong Cheng should have known from the very beginning who it was that had intercepted her that day!
”Do you know it?” Yu Huan asked, somewhat out of control.
Gu Dong Cheng didn't answer and just parked his car to the side. He alighted from the station and walked over to the railing of the bridge, letting the sea breeze blow against him. His entire being seemed to have become one with the darkness, like a dejected pool of ocean water.
Yu Huan got off the car. A cold wind blew, causing her to shiver. She tightened her clothes, but lost the courage to question him.
Perhaps it was all a coincidence, all a coincidence. After all, Gu Dongcheng didn't have any motive for doing so. How could he give her to Chu Yufeng for no reason at all?
Right, this must all be a coincidence. She stood behind Gu Dong Cheng, slightly closing her eyes to console herself, as the cold wind practically blew through her entire body. Suddenly, her body warmed up, and a faint smell of smoke assaulted her.
