Chapter 41 - A small cruel lie (1/2)

''Arthur, can you come to help me move some things?'' A middle-aged woman's voice was heard coming from the entrance of a house. Soon the voice of the woman was heard again

''Arthur come right now.'' Footsteps were quickly heard coming from inside the house from the second floor. ''I'm coming mom'' Quickly a boy of about 11 years old ran down the stairs. He had short blond hair, blue eyes that showed a lot of intelligence, and a pair of thin glasses.

''You are finally here. Now help me put all this in the fridge.'' His mother said. Arthur quickly began to carry everything to the kitchen. Even though he was a young boy, it could be seen that he had considerable strength.

While he was helping his mother, the entrance of the house was heard once again, this time a man's voice was heard. ''I'm home.'' Arthur's mother recognized the voice and went quickly to the entrance. ''Maxell you are finally home. Come quickly and help me and Arthur put things away.''

A sigh was heard followed by ''Here I go Stella. Let me put my things away first.'' Soon his footsteps were heard, when he got to the kitchen he said. ''Arthur'' to which the boy replied '' Dad ''. They both looked at each other's faces and sighed.

Don't make those faces. As soon as we finish ordering this I will prepare dinner. '' The small family of 3 continued with this task almost in silence. After several minutes of silence in the monotonous task, a click was heard from one of the windows. This startled everyone in the kitchen and even more so when the click was repeated.

Both Maxwell and Stella stood in front of their son and looked out the window. In this, there was a very large owl staring at them. This startled the family especially because of the owl's insistence on touching the window with its peck.

Maxwell took one of the kitchen brooms and slowly approached the window with the intention of scare the owl. This did not seem to please the owl, who more insistently continued pecking at the window. Stella could only watch as she held her son in her hands. Maxwell, seeing that he could not scare the owl, decided to go for something more direct and hit the owl.

He carefully opened the window as he prepared the broom to hit the owl. But as soon as the window was opened a little the owl with unthinkable agility for its size went into the kitchen and began to flutter across the ceiling to finally drop a letter directly on the table. Maxwell started chasing the owl through the kitchen.

On the other hand, both Stella and Arthur focused their gazes on the letter. This lasted a short time before Stella's curiosity got the better of her and she decided to see what she said. Arthur who was still next to his mother also saw the content.
