150 I Promise... (2/2)
Too bad, he didn't make more than a step when he heard a conversation of two teenagers passing him and immediately got intrigued.
”That chick from the parking lot was so hot.”
”Yeah! Totally! Though, she looked to be too cold. If only she could smile a little, she would be such an angel.”
”Look, I took a photo of her.”
”Oh! Let me s—” The young man tried to take his friend's phone but someone preceded him and grabbed it first. Before they could react, the person gave it back before running away towards the exit, acting as a national sprinter.
When they looked back at the phone, the picture was gone, together with the men who deleted it.
As the parking lot wasn't that far, Wuxing reached it in no time but looking around, he didn't spot her. Dongmei was nowhere to be seen.
Hu, hu…
Wuxing breathed hurriedly, but he didn't stop running, choosing to push forward, knowing he wasn't wrong. Dongmei was there. He just needed to find her.
Wroom!
Just as he wondered what else to do, he heard the sound of the departing limousine and his legs carried him forward. He didn't know why or how but he knew she was there. The crowd was shocked at him running straight into the road in between of the cars, following after them.
”Dongmei!!!” Wuxing yelled on top of his lugs, hoping to make her notice him from the back seats but to no avail. The limousine didn't stop accelerating.
Did that mean Wuxing should have stopped chasing? Yes.
Did Wuxing listen to the sound of rationality in his brain? Hell No.
One street after another, Wuxing kept up with them thanks to the traffic yet he knew the black limousine was heading to the highway. There was no way he could keep up with them. He was already at the edge, feeling as if his legs were failing from running at full speed for more than a two or three kilometres.
It wasn't surprising he lost his balance and soon fell while rolling on the cold asphalt.
There were only a hundred meters away but with him laying on the ground, the gap was extending even further.
Toot! Toot!
The cars behind Wuxing began honking at him as he didn't even have the energy to stand up, blocking the road for them.
SCREEEEEECH!
Then, a miracle happened. The limousine with Dongmei inside hit the breaks and suddenly halted with the doors at the back opening right after.
It was her. He saw her worried expression as Dongmei ran towards him, throwing her shoes in the sky in the process of the unprepared sprint.
Wuxing didn't know where he got the energy or how he resisted the pain, but in the next second, he found himself walking towards her. The will to hold her in his arms just a little bit earlier was too strong.
”Ah!” He heard her exclaim in happiness before something warm embraced him, tightly squeezing his neck.
”I missed you…” He managed to mutter, despite being extremely tired and she replied by tightening her hug even more.
Toot, toot!
They had a perfect moment, with just them in the centre of their focus when the cars started honking once again. Too bad that they couldn't destroy this moment for them.
”Please don't leave my side ever again…” Wuxing said lovingly as he pulled her away and caressed her cheek, wanting to look at her eyes.
”I promise…” She swore as a single tear broke out of her eye and fell down right before their lips sealed their love once again.
