The moment she heard the name of a friend that Wuxing told her about, Scarlet's eyes widened and she exclaimed right away, ”Ah! Mr Chameleon!”
Wuxing only smiled and asked politely, not bothered by Scarlet's brother suspicious gaze, ”Shall we talk in private?” Scarlet quickly stood up from the bed and agreed with a smile, ”Yes, naturally.” The appearance of Chameleon confirmed everything that Wuxing was talking about which made her really happy.
”Sis, who is this man…?” Scarlet's brother immediately asked, not that sure about Wuxing's intentions. He was already against any handsome men that were approaching her sister and the Chameleon in front of him was especially dangerous in this aspect.
”Don't worry, he is working with my boss. We will just talk about work.” Scarlet assured him as she patted her brother's head and Wuxing confirmed it, easing the boy's thoughts, ”Yes, I have some news from him.”
”I will be back in a moment.” Calling out to him, Scarlet finally left with Wuxing and the first thing she asked after closing the doors was about his well-being, ”Uhmm… Is he fine…?”
Wuxing knew she was talking about him but nodded, acting like real Wuxing's partner, ”Yes, he is fine. I got sent here to make sure that you will attend the selection. We want you in our future team as we think you have potential.”
Hearing that she would be in Wuxing's future team she couldn't help but blush and mutter, ”I'm honoured…” She already began acting in that direction so she informed, ”I already decided to go and I even took care of my brother's surgery so that he can be discharged earlier.”
Wuxing smiled, checking with Devil Face if there is anyone listening to them and said, ”I know, I already had a conversation with that doctor. You shouldn't have the problems with it anymore. Please refrain from using your body as a way to win someone's favours. Boss wouldn't be happy with that.”
”I'm sorry… I just thought—” As he sounded as if he was scolding her, Scarlet apologised but Wuxing cut her off while assuring her, ”Don't worry, I'm not scolding you. We will teach you everything you need to know later on. Give me your contact information and we will meet in a week. We can both travel for the selection together. What do you think?”
This was just the contact and the Chameleon in front of her knew everything so she did not hesitate to give him her phone number, ”Yes, that would be a great help. Thank you, Mr Chameleon.”
Having her information, Wuxing didn't stay for much longer, letting her spend the time with her brother, knowing she wouldn't meet him often after joining Seven Stars, ”I will be leaving then. Say hi to your brother from me. He seems to care a lot about you. Send the last week with him.”
He didn't wait for her response and simply left after saying what he had to. When he left the hospital though, he received a question from Devil Face, 'Why do you attach such importance to her? She is just a normal person. It will be years before she can reach your level.'
Wuxing had a quick response to that and replied, 'It's because she is pure and can be easily taught without any disturbance from her experiences. She has great talent and we can train her into one of the best. She just needs correct guidance.'
Devil Face still didn't understand this and argued, 'But she still isn't an ability user like you or Anna and Katherine. She will find it hard to adapt after half a year if she stays with you guys. How do you expect her to survive an event that is only meant for Ability Users? She will just be a burden.'
Thinking for a moment, Wuxing distanced himself from the hospital and sat down in the park, asking, 'Can you finally tell me what event it will be? I can't plan anything without knowing what are you planning.' He had many ideas but without all the details he was very limited.
Too bad that Devil Face rejected him once again as he said, 'Unfortunately I cannot. This is an order from above. To give everyone the same chances, we cannot disclose anything to our Ability Users. I can only tell you that it will be dangerous and thousands of ability users will join in it. Normal humans will not be part of it.'
Finding something in Devil Face's explanation, Wuxing realised something, questioning, 'Hmm… Does that mean that Dongmei won't be able to follow me? Can't she also become an Ability User then? Just like me? What about Scarlet? Aren't there any Spirits who are searching for Ability Users?'
'After some thoughts, I already figured out what was happening with Dongmei's ability. I think it's her mother that belongs to the older generation of Ability Users but she already started to transfer her ability onto Dongmei. It's a lengthy process as a spirit can't leave the Ability User as long as he is alive but it is possible.' Devil Face informed proudly, finding his detective skills impeccable.
