62 His Woman (1/2)
Suppressing the rage that was surging in him, Jason sneered,
”Cain's woman? Siana, I thought you would be smarter than that.”
Hearing his words, Siana didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Did the man think she didn't deserve Cain? That she wasn't good enough? Or did he maybe also believed that Cain was an asexual? Or even a gay? She actually wondered whether the smart man from before always lost his cool, like now, whenever the talk concerned his sons. She actually found him slightly similar to Cain in this aspect: he also became such an unreasonable person whenever the topic concerned her.
Looking at the worried father, deep in her heart she felt slightly bitter: had her parents ever protected her to such extents?
”It is up to you to believe me or not. But I have no reason to lie to you.”
Jason studied her expression while looking straight into her eyes, as if trying to see her thoughts, her soul. On the foot of his bed, Mark remained as quiet as before. However, after the stillness didn't subside, he finally decided to talk,
”Siana, why did you connect the 'Black Lily' and dad's infertility?”
Sia took a note of Mark's collected approach towards the matter. It seemed like Mr. Jason held more insecurities regarding this issue than his son. It was quite commendable.
”Cain told me about the task you gave them, and both of us came to the same conclusion that the information should be of detrimental value for you to go to such lengths as to involve two outsiders. As it involves hacking, we pretty much guessed that your target from the beginning was not Luke but rather Cain.”
Though Jason was still impatient, her careful and calm analysis actually made him loosen up a bit. Her analysis hit the bullseye. His senses started to slowly come back to him and a feeling of guilt quietly invaded his heart.
Not minding the changes in his expression, Sia recalled the events of the night, explaining why they suspected that the information they were seeking to retrieve could be exactly this one. Of course she skipped the parts of his indecency though it made her face turn red from times to times.
”I planned to tell you from the very beginning as, in case you need help, 15 days may not be sufficient for us to find clues on this particular group. If we know what we are looking for we might also find some possible suspects to narrow down our search. Though I don't know much, but from the way Cain put it, I understand that we can't allow the next in line Herondale to become the head as that would also affect the underworld and possibly even the emperor selection. We are basically allies who have mutual benefits in this case, so I hope for your collaboration.”
”Why are you speaking in plural? Even if by any chance Cain is your boyfriend it's not like you are the one doing the search.”
Siana's lips curved into a teasing smile when she saw the man's stubborn dejection towards her. It seemed like she had to be completely honest to him to win his trust back.
”Well, I use 'we' rather than 'he' as now I am involved in this matter as much as him. My codename is Q, and I am the number two hacker. So you could consider yourself hitting the jackpot as not only is number one hacker going to help you find that group but also the number two.”
After being deadpanned by her the two men simply sat there in a daze. Even in their wildest dreams they would have never imagined the girl to be the irrefutable number two who was almost the same level as that monster Cain. Moreover the girl even claimed to be his girlfriend? If it was really the case wasn't this couple a bit too scary? One had the support of half of the military, had strong business standing, was the best hacker alive and, moreover, was currently fighting for the position of the head of the underworld, while the other was one of the best neurosurgeons in the world, was a well known scientist and also turned out to be the second strongest hacker? What more secrets were they carrying with them? Even if they weren't a couple just the fact that they possibly worked together was already something to be wary of.
If she was telling the truth, did it not mean that these two monstrous geniuses were actually willing to help them? Why? What was their objective?
However, Jason was a hard nut to crack. He wouldn't believe everything just anyone told him. If he did, he wouldn't be the man he was now. Though deep down he believed her, he still required hard proof to ensure the credibility of her claims.
”It's hard to believe you, however, there is an easy way to check whether you are lying or not.”
