273 Do You Still Want to Return? (2/2)

”Ah Hua,” Mother Li spoke with a trembled voice.

Immediately, Li Hua lifted his head to look at his parents. ”I wanted to stay with you. However, I do have a few unresolved matters in the other world as well.” He frowned before he turned to Chief Ye. ”Give me a few days to discuss this matter with my parents.”

Because of Li Hua's reunion with his parents, Mingyue's trip to Yan Zifu's place was delayed. It was already past lunch hour when they arrived. As soon as Mingyue and Yan Zifu met, the two greeted each other and hugged. They chatted briefly before Yan ZIfu brought them to their usual private room.

Because the royalties were present, Yan Zifu did not stay around too long and left once the food was served.

Meanwhile, Princess Lingchen glanced at Lu Wei, who sat beside her and frowned. When the three of them decided to visit Yan Zifu's place, Lu Wei suddenly said that he wanted to come along.

The Crown Princess was ready to start their discussion regarding her Emperor's sudden decision. However, Lu Wei decided not to say anything about it throughout their trip.

It was not her intention to avoid discussing the matter of the ascension. Princess Lingchen simply wanted to have more time to think things through. These past few days, she was busy pleading her father to take back his decision. However, the Emperor would not budge.

Princess Lingchen sighed. She watched Yang Yun picked up Mingyue's favorite cake and put it on his wife's plate. However, after a bite, Mingyue immediately pushed the cake aside, and let Yang Yun have the rest of it. The couple exchanged a look, and the Princess instinctively looked away.

She was glad to see the couple's good relationship. Though they were separated for six years, their relationship remained unchanged. Or perhaps, Yang Yun had treated Mingyue much better. How could she not noticed how careful Yang Yun was around his wife. He supported her as she walked and would always ask if his wife was tired.

Seeing the way Yang Yun acted, Princess Lingchen felt the corner of her mouth started to twitch. She had come to accompany Mingyue, but it seemed that suddenly, she had become the third wheel.

Princess Lingchen looked away and looked at the man beside her. Coincidentally, Lu Wei raised his head, and their gaze met. The Princess was startled at the sudden interaction. Before she began to move, Lu Wei had picked a dish and put it on her plate.

”I noticed that you quite like this lychee flavored cake,” Lu Wei said.

The Princess glanced at the cake and spoke softly, ”Thank You.” She took a small bite on the cake before she put it down. Then, she turned to Lu Wei. ”Sorry. I was not able to convince my father to take back his decision.”

The chopstick in Lu Wei's hand paused midair. He looked at the Princess and suddenly guessed that the Princess has been avoiding him because she was not able to change her father's decision.

”You still remember what I said to you months ago,” Lu Wei said.

Princess Lingchen suppressed herself from rolling her eyes at him. How can she not remember when Lu Wei said that he wanted to join the two countries together after their marriage because he was too lazy to deal with the official matters and the ministers. Such eccentric reasoning, how can she not remember?

”If you cannot change the Emperor's decision, then, forget it,” Lu Wei said with a sigh. Before Princess Lingchen could ask him what he meant by his words, Lu Wei spoke again. ”Let's discuss this later when we're alone.”
