198 You’re Late! (1/2)

Pain.

Lin Mingyue woke up with pain all over her body with her face facing the ground. Mingyue shrugged off her backpack from her shoulder and turned her body. She stared at the sky and blinked as raindrops caressed her skin. Then, the image of her sister slipped at her steps replayed on her mind.

They were holding hands, so her sister had pulled her together as they fall.

The last thing Mingyue saw before she fell was Yang Yun's anxious face. He stretched his hand to catch her, and she reached hers to grab him, but they missed each other.

As Mingyue and her sister fall, their bodies hit the ground and rolled down the hill. There were a few shrubs along the way, and that had slow down their fall. At one time, Mingyue grabbed on the bushes to prevent them from falling further. But Mingyue could not support the two's weight, and in the end, her hand slipped, and they continued to roll down.

Lin Mingyue forced herself to ignore the pain and sat up. The first thing she did was to locate her sister. Lin Tian Yu lay not far away from hers. Mingyue crawled to her sister and patted on her cheek.

”Sister! Sister! Hey, wake up! Lin Tian Yu! Wake up!”

Lin Tian Yu let out a groan, but she did not open her eyes.

Looking at the situation, Mingyue put her fingers on her sister's wrist and then, checked on her sister's body. Her head was injured, and there seemed to be a few bruises on her body.

But in the dark, Mingyue could not see clearly to check whether there were any broken bones. Mingyue removed her sister's bag, but she did not dare to move her sister's body as she was afraid that she could make her condition worse.

Mingyue went back to grab her backpack and searched for something to bandage the wound on her sister's head. Meanwhile, she tried to wake up her sister, but nothing worked.

Fear crept into her heart. What if her sister's head hit something while falling? What if...

”Help! Someone help!” Mingyue shouted, helplessly a few times. But no one answered. The only thing she could hear was the sound of the rain pattered on the leaves. Her cheek was wet from a mixture of tears and rain.

She waited for a long time, but no one came to her side.

Lin Mingyue wiped her tears and rummaged through their bag and found something to help them take shelter from the rain. She found another raincoat and help to cover her sister from rain.

After a long time of waiting, Lin Mingyue heard a noise. She held her breath and tried to listen carefully. Then, she heard another rustling noise. Mingyue was about to shout for help when another thought crossed her mind: What if it was some wild animal?

Mingyue turned to their bag again and tried to find something as a weapon. She found a small knife and a pepper spray. Her chest heaved up and down as she gripped on those two weapons.

A rustling noise could be heard coming from her left. Then, there were footsteps. From a distance, she heard a familiar voice, calling her name. Mingyue scurried to stand up.
