156 Trying to Apologize (1/2)

When Yang Yun and his family arrived at the Jiang's residence, the old General and madame were waiting for them. As soon as Liu Qing Xin descended from the carriage, Han Yunyi greeted her and took her inside. Yang Yun watched as his sister trailed after their mother silently.

Yang Yun turned around when he felt a hand on his shoulder. His father-in-law was looking at him as he patted him on his shoulder. Yang Yun lowered his gaze and said, ”Father-in-law.”

Old General Jiang smiled with satisfaction that his son-in-law has stopped addressing him as 'Old General.' ”Let's head inside. Your mothers have lots to talk about. In a while, dinner will be ready.”

Yang Yun nodded. He followed after his father-in-law and was taken into a hall. The Jiang brothers were all seated in the room, waiting for them. Yang Yun greeted the brothers before he took a seat next to Jiang Xiao Liang.

The Old General, Jiang Huan, sat down at the top. He looked at his sons and spoke, ”Jiang Xiao Tian had explained about the situation. Yang Yun, you will be leaving for Sui Country next week?”

”Yes.”

Jiang Huan heaved a long sigh. ”You have been married to my daughter for a week when she disappeared. As your father-in-law, I am sorry for what you have to go through. Mingyue is the apple of the Jiang family's eyes. As her father, of course, I wanted to find her no matter what it will take. Yang Yun, I can only offer you my gratitude for volunteering to find Mingyue.”

”Father-in-law, when I married Mingyue, I have promised to take care and protect her,” Yang Yun said. ”She is my wife. I will do whatever I can to find her again.”

”Xiao Tian had explained to us a bit about the portal and Nanlin Tribe. Back then, I have heard about the lost tribe and thought they had vanished forever after the massacre. For you to meet them must be heaven's will,” Jiang Huan said. ”Training with them will be hard. It will be different than training as a soldier.”

Yang Yun's lips turned into a small smile. ”I am a soldier trained by both General Jiang and you. I will endure, however hard the training will be. It's just that; I hope that you can look after my mother and sister while I am away.”

The Old General could only heave another long sigh at Yang Yun's words. ”You don't have to worry about your mother and your sister. They are also a part of the family. Naturally, we will look after them. You can concentrate on whatever you have to do without worry.”

Yang Yun thanked the general. They continued to chat for a while until a servant walked in and announced that dinner was ready. The Yang and Jiang's family had dinner together, as it was Yang Yun's farewell party.

A week later, Yang Yun was all set to head over to Sui Country to begin his training with Chief Ye. The Jiang and Yang family gathered again as they sent off Yang Yun. As the journey will be long and far, Yang Yun only packed a few clothes and necessities with him.

Yang Yun bid his farewell with everyone and received a few words of advice and care. Then, he hopped on his horse and turned to look at his family members before he departed.

He reached the city gate and hopped down his horse for the usual inspection check. Once it was his turn, Yang Yun heard someone called out his name. He turned around and saw that it was Jiang Xiao Liang. He looked at Xiao Liang with puzzled as the man hop down the horse and headed to him.

When Jiang Xiao Liang approached the gate, the other guards immediately greeted him. Jiang Xiao Liang held up his hand to the guards and stopped in front of Yang Yun.

”Jiang Xiao Liang. Why are you here?”
