Yang Yun followed the older woman's gaze towards his chest. He traced his fingers along with the tread around his neck and stopped when it reached a ring. Yang Yun glanced at Chief Ye and noticed that she was waiting for him. He hesitated a few seconds before he removed the ring from his neck

After Mingyue had disappeared, he asked someone to turn his wife's thumb ring into a necklace. Whenever he touched the thumb ring, he would often blame himself. If only he had listened to Mingyue and turned the ring into a necklace earlier, then, his wife would not slip away from his grip.
”Here,” Yang Yun said as he handed the ring to Chief Ye.
The old lady held the ring as if it was a precious item as she studied the ring without saying a word. After a while, she looked at Yang Yun. ”The girl was wearing this ring when she disappeared, correct?”
”Yes,” Yang Yun nodded. His face looked forlorn as he recalled that day. ”She's my wife. I held on to her hands when the force tried to pull her away. In the end, this ring slipped off her thumb, and she slipped away from me.”
The mood in the room suddenly grew heavy as everyone heard Yang Yun's words. When Mingyue was taken away, both Princess Lingchen and Prince Lu Wei were both presented. ”So that's how it was,” Chief Ye nodded. She then understood the reason why she could trace some kind of power from the ring. ”Young man, would you hand this ring to me for safekeeping?”
”Why? What are you going to do?”
”This ring could be the object that could connect us to the world your wife was sent to,” Chief Ye said. ”Because the girl was wearing this ring when she was pulled away, I could detect a stronger power coming from this ring. If you gave me this ring for safekeeping, then I have a way to maintain the power or else, the presence of the other world might disappear before five years.”
”If that's the case, then I will entrust the ring to you, Chief Ye,” Yang Yun said.
”Don't worry. I will take good care of this ring. When the time comes, I will return it to you,” Chief Ye said. She took up a porcelain container hidden in her clothes and kept the ring in that container.
”Does this mean you have a way for us to find Mingyue and bring her back?” Jiang Xiao Tian asked. His hands tightened into a fist under his full sleeves.
Jiang Xiao Tian was afraid that if he gets too excited, he will only be disappointed when Chief Ye rejected their request to help them. After all, the first time he asked Prince Lu Wei about the tribe, the Prince had pretended that he knew nothing. The first time Jiang Xiao Tian asked Chief Ye to help them, the chief had said that it would be impossible. It was after a few times of meeting them did Chief Ye agreed to help.
