Chapter 37 - A Big Scene (1/2)
There were many performances within Song Cheng, the most famous one among them being, ‘Song Cheng’s Thousand Romances’. “Miss Wang Tossing the Silk Ball’ could also count as one of the most popular ones.
The venue was located just below the city wall, hence there was no need to buy an extra ticket. The performances took place throughout the day so that everyone who passed could see it happening. Everytime it got to the part where the silk ball was tossed, the grounds were filled up with people.
This program had two main attractions. One was naturally the silk ball toss, for some people desired to be hit by it, while others prayed it did not hit them. The rest of them, heh. Most were conflicted between receiving it or not, making them rowdier than the other batch. One could never desire too much drama.
The other attraction was the dialogue between the”son-inlaw” they invited up and the Wang manor’s owner, the esquire. This was by far the most interesting element of the show. Yes, what else could be more interesting than watching a crowd?!
Meng Fan had been to Song Cheng several times and seen this show several times. Before he thought it was fun to watch the attraction, but now, he was the attraction.
When Meng Fan’s ‘steel tower-esque’ figure appeared at the top of the city walls, the crowd below immediately began jeering and applauding.
A person of Meng Fan’s proportions might not be welcomed elsewhere, but in this ‘attraction’, he was definitely considered a hot commodity.
Even the esquire began to smile. TV stations valued ratings, movies valued box offices, and the performances here naturally valued its visitor count.
Undoubtedly, Meng Fan was the most ‘valuable’ tourist who had been hit by the ball in the last few days.
Miss Wang also smiled, a very pretty one at that. It’s not like she had to marry him for real.
Nothing needed to be said about the servants behind her.
The esquire began: “What is your surname young noble, who is this person seeking her hand?”
“I am no noble, my last name is Ji…”
Meng Fan looked down from his post on the city wall. Hordes and hordes of people were looking up, and even more were rushing to see. His mouth forcefully swallowed back the final vowels “Yi Ao”.
There were a lot of people. Meng Fan couldn’t count how many, but there must be 800, if not 1000.
In front of this kind of big scene, Meng Fan would be shaking in his feet if it had been before.
As for now, his feet were still shaking, but he was excited!
They were people, right?
To Meng Fan, it was just a big boss waiting to be defeated!
“Ji, what an ancient surname! Has your family arranged a marriage partner yet?”
The esquire was stunned by the surname Meng Fan had provided. After all, he had read the book ‘On the self-cultivation of actors’, and quickly immersed himself in his character, setting the rhythm for the following scenes.
Meng Fan had seen the following procedures before. The opportunity was so rare. How could he follow the rhythm given by the esquire? He gulped, and a sly smile formed on his face. “Mister, you should be able to see, based on my figure, I should be next door in Gao Lao Zhuang!”
Meng Fan bit the bullet. His skin was so thick that he didn’t even stutter. However… People with talent were also daring? Either way, Meng Fan thought he couldn’t go wrong by dissing himself when he first arrived.
A well-intended laughter broke out among the audience.
The esquire was stunned again. He’d seen all kinds of tourists, but this model was his first time. He sneered a little. “I did not expect the young noble to be so humorous.”
The following procedure was not going to follow the original, racking their brains, the esquire was confident he could settle all the issues on this acre.
Only, Meng Fan did not allow him to display his wisdom. He took a step forward and covered the esquire with the area of his body.
Meng Fan said to the strangers below. “Gather around, let me show you guys a dance!”
“Okay!”
“Let’s see it!”
The audiences did not care for the show’s intended program, as long as there was a commotion, they were satisfied. Not to mention, this commotion was way more interesting than the original!
“Like like like like like like like like like like like like!”
Meng Fan began to twist his body, hands outstretched with thumbs upright. Pushing back and forth, his mouth screaming the rhythm—as regular rhythms wouldn’t satisfy Meng Fan’s alternating hand speed. When accelerated, his arms became blurred like a ghost.
What the hell!
Whether it was the high-level ministers on the stage or the tourists in the audience, like Zhang Zhou Wei, the people who saw his dance felt the burn in their eyes, looking petrified.
The difference was that instead of screaming at him like Zhang Zhou Wei had done, the tourists began to laugh and cheer in applause.
