Chapter 128 - The Divine Third Eye (1/2)
"If Brother Long Yue manages to defeat me, then you will be acknowledged as the best among the monster Rebirth Qi practitioner." said King Teng as he walked towards the second stage while turning back and smiling towards Zhong Yue.
"What an arrogant brat!"
Shouted the angry Xin Huo and he said, "He is much more annoying than that Yu Xuanji!"
"With his capabilities, it truly is in a position to say that. It would only be asking for trouble if he were to say that without having the abilities to justify it."
Zhong Yue continued walking as he continued, "But within the Rebirth level, those who behave in that way in front of me are definitely looking for trouble."
Xin Huo replied in praise, "Brat Yue, you are arrogant as well, but I like it!"
Zhong Yue smiled and did not reply. He also had the abilities to behave arrogantly as he hadn't wasted a single second during his tenure in the tunnel. With the strong and powerful five elemental sword Qi he commanded, he definitely had the rights to behave as such!
On the pontoon, the totem carvings of the Monster God Ming King would appear and pass through their body once they stood on the pontoon. They would be fine so long as they were able to synchronize their totem carvings of the Monster God Ming King with the ones that pass through them.
Other than that, Zhong Yue could even feel his physique constantly undergoing refinement through the mysterious power created when he synced his totem carvings with the totem carvings of the Monster God Ming King!
In truth, the test was not only a simple test. For those able to seize the opportunity, it was also a chance for everyone to temper themselves tremendously through utilizing the totem carvings of the Monster God Ming King to enhance their physique!
He also felt that the mysterious power was increasing the power of his body much better than the Sun Moon Prodigious Emanation Art!
After all, the mysterious power came from a god, which is naturally stronger than any Qi Practitioner's self-produced power.
Other than that, he could also feel that his own Monster God Ming King's totem carvings were becoming more and more solid and even more powerful as part of the totem carvings on the pontoon had merged into his totem carvings.
On the other hand, King Teng, Yu Xuanji and the others had also noticed incredibly rare chance as they continued to work harder to strengthen their physique through the totem carvings on the pontoon!
However, there was also another Qi Practitioner who lost his life as his flesh and bones started to fall from his body before eventually collapsing. Similar to the one previously, the Qi Practitioner was oblivious to his death and he continued walking towards the front.
Yu Xuanji, Hu Qimei and the others immediately looked at him. When the Qi Practitioner noticed their glances, he felt confused at first before quickly coming to realize the truth. His face immediately changed and he said with a trembling voice, "Am I dead already?"
Yu Xuanji and the others immediately nodded to his question and after that, the Qi Practitioner resigned himself to his lamentations before his skeleton collapsed and fell into the abyss to join the myriad of other skeletons.
There were only about fourteen Qi Practitioners including Zhong Yue that had made it to this point, but two of them had already died on the first stage!
"Screw this Monster God Ming King's Art! My life is more important, I am leaving right now. Who's with me?"
On the first stage, a monster Qi Practitioner could not cope with the stress anymore and he got up and said, "Everyone thinks that the Monster God Ming King's Art they cultivated is the most orthodox one, but who could guarantee theirs are the most accurate ones? Which is more important? Your life or the art? Who is coming with me?"
He waited for awhile but was disappointed to see the obvious disinterest from the remaining four Qi Practitioners on the stage as they didn't even flinch, remaining seated as they continued to cogitate on the Monster God Ming King's Art.
The Qi Practitioner gritted his teeth and walked towards the stairs alone. However, when he almost step foot on the stairs, something struck him and cold sweat immediately started percolating on his forehead.
This was all because he cooperated with the others to solve the seals on the stairs when he entered the palace. But now, with him alone, these hundred and eight steps of stairs now posed a nigh-insurmountable threat, akin to a sword hanging over his head by a thread!
There's still a slight chance for me to survive. But if I continued with the Monster God Ming King's Art, I would be dead for sure with even slightest mistake! I can still remember some of the patterns so I might be able to survive.
The Qi Practitioner's face turned pale and he gritted his teeth while he landed his feet on the stairs. Suddenly, the area was lit up with a blinding flash of light, which upon its withdrawal, there remained a pile of ash. The Qi Practitioner was completely incinerated!
With that, there were only eleven Qi Practitioners that remained on the stage and the pontoon.
Suddenly, King Teng let out a groan as the third divinity eye of his was pierced and started to bleed. He inhaled a long breath and lights began to glow in his third eye, repairing it, after which, he continued walking towards the front under the pressure.
The scene made the Qi Practitioners on the pontoon shiver.
The missing part of the Ming King's totem on the walls was the divine eye on the forehead. This pontoon was to examine their knowledge of the Monster God Ming King's Art. If their knowledge was insufficient, they will not be able to keep up with the rapid changes of the totem carvings on the pontoon and would only be disintegrated by it!
"Actually, it is fine to make a tiny mistake." Yu Xuanji said.
He stared at the King Teng who withstood the power of the totem carvings striding over the pontoon, and he continued, "The missing part in the divine eye totem is causing the changes of the totem carvings to slow down, thus, making it difficult to clearly understand the beginning chapters. Fortunately, only a minor part of the totem is missing so making a tiny mistake wouldn't cost you your life."
Zhong Yue nodded and said, "Such knowledge, Brother Xuanji. However, there is still hope to recover the missing part."
