Qiao’s mother became aware of his panic and replied as he stood up and headed to the kitchen.

Qiao’s father smiled and asked Qiao Xuan: ”Isn't the new company good? Why don't you go to work again?”

Qiao Xuan knew that he was changing the topic, but she did not expose him. ”Sheng Liang doesn't like it when I go to that place.”

Qiao’s father frowned: ”You haven't even married him and you're already obedient to him. If you were to get married in the future, he wouldn't cherish you.”

”I also don't see you not cherishing my mother either.” Qiao Xuan retorted.

Qiao’s father choked and sighed after a long while, ”Silly girl, if you get angry in the future, don't come home and cry to me.”

Qiao Xuan laughed: ”If I didn't look for you, who would I look for? After all, you are my father.”

When Qiao’s father heard this, his eyes actually reddened for a moment, and then repeated: ”Silly girl.”

After finishing his meal, Qiao Xuan returned to his room. Qiao’s mother was in a daze as she muttered to herself: ”Tell me, why did Hua'er suddenly ask this question? Did she remember anything?”

”It shouldn't be. It's been so long. She was so young then, so it's normal for her to not remember. She might have just asked casually.” The Qiao’s father comforted her.

Qiao’s mother was still frowning. ”That child from back then is now in his thirties. Could it be that he found Hua Er?”

”How could that be? It's already been more than ten years, and Hua'er looks different from when she was young. Furthermore, we have moved here, so how could he possibly find her?” Qiao’s father patted Qiao’s mother on the shoulder and said, ”This matter cannot be told to Hua'er. We must rot inside our stomachs, we cannot speak of it for the rest of our lives.”

Qiao’s mother nodded: ”I understand.”

He hoped that Hua'er would never know about him, and never remember that nightmarish experience ever again.

Qiao Xuan didn't hear what her parents were saying, she once again took out the photo album and flipped through it one by one. The old photos were all printed with the time of the photo shoot, so she was sure that she couldn't find the picture of her when she was six years old.

If she had been torn apart or under special circumstances, she would have been able to understand. However, her parents' reactions just now were clearly different.

And from their attitude, she knew that she wouldn't be able to get anything out of them.

Although, even if she didn't know about it after so many years, she could still live a good life. People were indeed curious, especially when the beginning of this matter was mentioned by outsiders.

Qiao Xuan's fingers caressed the photographs, when suddenly her eyes lit up. She discovered that on the photo taken on her seventh birthday, it was summer, so she was wearing a flowery dress and there seemed to be some shadows on her wrist. She flipped through the photo again after she was seven years old, and the mark grew lighter and lighter, until she was eleven years old.

She suddenly felt her heart throb. She immediately went to find the magnifying glass and looked carefully to see what kind of mark it was. She unexpectedly discovered that it must have been caused by something that had been tied up for a long time!

This discovery did not scare Qiao Xuan. Could she have been abused by someone when she was six years old?

She was sure it was definitely not her parents, but why did they hide it, why didn't they call the police, why didn't they secretly help her seek justice, why did they even need to cover up for this person?

Qiao Xuan couldn't understand. She felt her mind was in a mess, and it was faintly painful, so she closed the album and put it back gently.

Forget it, let's not think about it anymore. Since her parents didn't want her to know, they should be doing it for her own good. Why did she have to dig it out?
