With the previous experience, the second acupuncture session went more smoothly.
Li Tongxi coordinated very well with him as she wore her loose pajamas. Shi Lei skillfully pierced all three of her acupoints: Dandong, Dai, and Zou.
This time, the atmosphere was not as awkward as the first time. However, when Shi Lei pinched Li Tongxi's soft feet, and when she lifted the hem of his pyjamas to show Shi Lei her legs, his face was still as red as if he had applied tomato sauce.
In order to break the awkward atmosphere, Li Tongxi tried to find a topic to talk about, and asked: ”I heard grandfather say that you're going to Beijing Medical University to teach Chinese medicine?”
”Yes, I had to meet with Principal Lin today before deciding on this matter.” Shi Lei said as he moved the needles.
”Then, from now on, we are colleagues.”
”Colleagues? You also teach traditional Chinese medicine? ”
”No, I taught you immunology.”
Shi Lei nodded, then pointed at Li Tongxi's thighs, where nearly all of her underwear was exposed, and said: ”Can you pull down your pajamas? I'm not a casual man, but if you do that, I can't help but want to be casual once. ”
”Ah?” ”Finished?” cried out in alarm, only then did he react. The acupuncture had already ended half a day ago, and he had been talking to Shi Lei while hanging on the lower half of his body.
Just now, she was immersed in her own thoughts. She thought back to dinner time, when her grandfather told her that Shi Lei was going to teach at the Medical University. As she continued to chat with Shi Lei, she forgot about her current environment.
Seeing Shi Lei put the needle back into his wallet, the redness on his face spread from his cheeks all the way down to the back of his neck. After tidying up his clothes, he jumped down from the bed and said: ”It's very late, I'm going to sleep now.
”Good night.” Shi Lei raised his head and smiled at her, then took the needle box and left the bedroom.
After exiting the door, Shi Lei frowned slightly.
Logically speaking, Li Tongxi should not have improved so quickly. Seeing her behavior in front of him, it was already extremely natural that she could not tell that she was a patient. With her ice-cold, quiet personality, she actually took the initiative to find a topic to adjust to the awkward atmosphere.
That shouldn't be the case.
Shi Lei had paid special attention to her when she was in front of other men, such as that Han Mingda she met when he was buying clothes the day before yesterday, and the students that had come to visit Li Huazhen's family the past two days.
Then, why was she so much closer to him?
Did patients really fall in love with doctors, this sort of cliché, really happen to them?
Follow this train of thought to get down …
Firstly, Li Tongxi suffered from a ”male phobia”, which made him hate any man she met. In order to cure her illness, she had to find a way to stop hating men, at least to get in touch with them normally.
Now, it seemed that he had become that breakthrough.
Patients with this kind of mental illness would often suppress their feelings for a long time. Once they found a breakthrough, it was easy for them to arouse the emotions they had accumulated for a long time.
To put it bluntly, there was a price to be paid if he wanted to completely cure her illness.
The price was to make her fall in love with him.
”Dammit …” Shi Lei could not help but scold him.
What do you mean 'why do you say that'?
I just want to stay in Beijing and take a class. I want to stay and be a teacher at a university who admires students and my colleagues. So, which class are you guys going to play?
Returning back to the room, Shi Lei laid on his bed and called Chen Yurou.
Chen Yurou told him over the phone that the orthopedic patients had all been successful in their surgery, but she still needed to follow up on their recovery.
It wasn't impossible for her to have to change doctors, but the patients would trust her. There was no way around it. She couldn't betray the patients' trust to resign and come to the capital at this critical juncture.
As a doctor, Shi Lei understood his wife's situation. Sometimes, the patient's trust was not only a reward, but also a pressure and encouragement. If it was a doctor with a conscience, even if you did not do well, you would still blame yourself.
