1276 Bug Angel Part 1 (2/2)
The armor split, and the imp within shrieked in terror, but its cry worked through the armor instead.
The noise made everyone's eardrums hurt, and everyone within earshot felt rather dizzy. Any warrior below level nine would probably be dazed for half a second.
Jola's hand was several frames slower, enough time for the imp to twist around and evade the killing blow. The magic nucleus embedded in the Bug Angel Armor's internal space melted a bit, patching up the crack in the armor quickly.
Saleen was astounded. While such methods of repair were wasteful, it made the patch incredibly resilient, as if a layer of magic nucleus was coated on metal. Furthermore, it was done frighteningly quickly.
It was both a huge waste and a huge finding.
Jola landed over 100 slashes, which made the Bug Angel Armor even more resilient. That was why Jola refused to kill the imp. On a battlefield, the Bug Angel Armor would not be able to resist attacks from a level ten true might.
”Contact the Winged Skull and tell them to devote their time to hunting. I want more magic nuclei!” Saleen ordered. He found that the Bug Angel Armor had depleted over 100 magic nuclei after being attacked by Jola. The entire set of armor glittered, crystallized all over.
There was no way Jola would be able to cleave the armor open with a single strike anymore.
The more frequently the armor was attacked, the more resilient it became. It was no wonder that Fycro said that Saleen had a lot to gain. Only Bug Angel Armor crafted from fossilized god fragments would have such properties.
If they were made with metal, their recovery rate would be faster and cost less, but the armor would et be weaker.
The Winged Skull was puzzled about the reasoning behind such an order, but they immediately mobilized all ships and began to hunt magic beasts in the Oceanic Ice Block.
The magic beasts there had increased to terrifying numbers, but the Winged Skull was equipped with the Reaper Scythe and hunting magic beasts became easier than cutting grass. The warships were simply following behind to pick up the dead bodies.
There was a noticeable shortage of metals in the alchemy factories. Saleen tested it and found the shell of red krill to be a decent substitute, albeit a rather expensive one.
It was fortunate there were so many red krill. Saleen decided to exclusively use their shells to craft Fycro's Bug Angel Armor.
There were many shells left, which were used to create larger versions of the armor. The armor could fit several imps and could be donned by supreme demons.
The best version, after undergoing many tests, was still the standard Bug Angel Armor.
However, Saleen had no concerns about waste. He crafted 200 large versions specifically for Nailisi, letting her select supreme demons to wear it. To the supreme demons, the Devil Flying Armor was not that practical, but the Bug Angel Armor hardly had weaknesses.
Jola found it difficult to cut down the supreme demons wearing such armor, even if they were only level eight or nine.
All grand swordmasters at Saleen's side were assigned from the army, and were ordered to give their all to attack the special armor. In September, Saleen would finish the 100,000 suits for his own use when he was done crafting 500,000 for Fycro.
The other 200 sets were suits of Crystal Bug Angel Armor crafted from crystals of very high purity.
Saleen imbued dark space magic patterns on all of the suits. While their physical defense was only marginally strengthened, their defense against energy attacks reached baffling levels.
The defensive capacities were built upon huge fuel cost. Every single set of Crystal Bug Angel Armor needed to be fit with 12 magic nuclei above level ten. Only then would they be able to resist magic attacks above level 10.
Nailisi patiently moved Saleen's subjects using the 12 Notes of First Purgatory. Saleen did not prioritize the transportation of warriors and transported farmers, smiths, some mages, and apprentices first.
Saleen left anyone with any measure of fighting capacity behind in Metatrin City.
Fycro came to Metatrin City personally, taking all 500,000 suits of Bug Angel Armor with him. Saleen only brought 20,000 sets with him and went to look for Grand Duke Iron Blood, when he found that there were a few problems with his armor.
He had no time to look for trouble with Alchemy City, but Imposa would definitely have time. Imposa controlled massive numbers of Iron Blood warriors, and they were all capable of piloting the Bug Angel Armors.
Saleen only brought Nailisi with him to Grand Duke Iron Blood's Palace At Sea.
Grand Duke Iron Blood had made the Palace At Sea into a fortress. The magic cannons that he bought from Saleen sealed the port without leaving any exploitable angles. Every spot that could be landed on had a huge number of magic cannons installed nearby.
The Grand Duke did not seem to want to attack anything, but wanted to make it a point in his line of defense!
”Saleen, I'm happy that you found time to see me!” The Grand Duke received Saleen with a loud laugh. There were already four level ten sorcerers behind him. The Grand Duke's forces had grown since they last met.
