966 Destruction Part 2 (2/2)
At that point in time, Saleen stood up and walked to the middle of a magic array. He remained standing there while Truman mounted six high-level magic nuclei on his magic array.
A thousand yard image appeared amongst the clouds. It was an image of Saleen himself. Clad in a devil suit, Saleen did not look like a mage.
”People of Ironwall City, listen up. Your Emperor tried to attack my city and kill my wife. I am here for revenge. I, Saleen Metatrin, will destroy Ironwall City. I will give you time to flee or you will die.” With that, Saleen unleashed 36 Vermillion Knights that pounced at the exterior of Ironwall City.
Behind the Vermillion Knights were the elemental stone statue soldiers. The elemental magic tower descended by a thousand yards and came down to a height of 2,000 yards. The elemental stone statue soldiers had ground element all over their body and they crashed towards the ground.
36 Tempest Dragon-mights also flew out of the magic tower and blew apart the clouds around the magic tower. Saleen's image could be seen very clearly by all the people of Ironwall City. He had no qualms using up grade-9 magic nuclei in order to shock them. Hundreds of yards of city wall had already been destroyed. It would be easy for them to flee the city through the gap.
In the middle of the city, a gigantic tower that was hundreds of yards tall opened up its roof and 12 crossbows launched arrows into the sky. The arrows began to descend after reaching a height of a thousand yards. Saleen laughed gleefully and did not retaliate. 36 elemental stone statue soldiers crashed onto the ground like magic stone shells. If not for the fact that they were elemental creatures, they would have been smashed into pieces.
The elemental stone statue soldiers were descending all the way. They relied on their ground-element exteriors for protection as they passed through the anti-flying zones and landed within Ironwall City. After they had landed, they returned to their original height of a hundred yards and began to wreak havoc with their magic war hammers.
The buildings in Ironwall City were all ancient. Most of the towering buildings had magic arrays. The Sikeqinyans might lack mages, but that piece of land was once occupied by powerful people too. All four dynasties had built cities there before. In other words, Ironwall City had a history of more than 10,000 years.
These buildings had been worn down by the weather, but they had also been repaired repeatedly over the years. When the elemental stone statue soldiers smashed at the buildings with their magic war hammers, they all collapsed one by one. Without anyone taking control of the magic arrays, they became merely decoration. Saleen knew that if Ironwall City had been prepared for war, the magic arrays would have been a nightmare for the army that was trying to take down the city. The reason he used the elemental stone statue soldiers to attack from the sky was so that they would destroy those buildings first.
The metal flying machines would be there in another three hours. It would be tough to rely on a single elemental magic tower to keep the nine magic towers in Ironwall City down. That was why Saleen had to destroy those dangerous buildings first, so that the metal flying machines would not suffer too many losses.
Once the battle began, Saleen had no time to care about the people in the city. He could only focus on his own men. Each metal flying machine would carry at least three soldiers. The soldiers had no means of flying, so once these flying machines had been hit, the former would fall to their deaths.
The sorcerers in the city were furious. The elemental creatures that had descended from the sky were all grade-9. Their magic towers might be powerful, but the elemental creatures were too far away for them to cast any powerful spells to destroy them. If only the elemental creatures were foolish enough to approach the magic towers. Unfortunately, Saleen had ordered the elemental stone statue soldiers to avoid the attack range of the nine magic towers.
At last, a sorcerer in one of the magic towers grew impatient and cast a powerful spell from the tower. A gigantic fire-element creature appeared out of thin air and charged towards the elemental stone statue soldiers. The fire-element creature was a giant flaming dragon and was even larger than the elemental stone statue soldiers.
The giant flaming dragon was charging around recklessly. When it reached the elemental stone statue soldiers, it opened its mouth and bit down on one of them without any hesitation. The elemental stone statue soldier used its magic war hammer to smash at the giant flaming dragon's wings, only to see it melting into a pool of fluid. On the other hand, the giant flaming dragon managed to bite off the head of the elemental stone statue soldier.
The giant flaming dragon slammed down its claws and the fallen elemental stone statue soldier immediately exploded. Even its elemental core exploded into pieces. Saleen would need at least a month's time for that elemental stone statue soldier to recover.
Even though the giant flaming dragon had managed to kill an elemental stone statue soldier rather easily, all the buildings around the mages in the magic tower had already been destroyed. They were devastated.
That was the effect that Saleen wanted to achieve. He was closely monitoring the movements of the giant flaming dragon and he had long been prepared to lose one elemental stone statue soldier. If the sorcerers in the magic towers planned to attack with powerful magic, then their city would be turned into a pile of debris.
”Do it!” Saleen gave the order. Aside from the sorcerers on the second level that were already completely spent and were in the midst of meditation, the remaining 30 sorcerers began to cast spells in the direction of the nine magic towers in the city.
Fire Meteor, Meteorite spell, and huge Ice Bomb spells…
All nine magic towers entered their defense modes at the same time. Each tower managed to protect an area of a few hundred yards around them. There were close to three million people and army of more than 200,000 in Ironwall City. There was no way the magic towers could protect the entire city.
In the past, it was not possible for sorcerers to form alliances to destroy cities. The way battles were being fought had changed and Ironwall City was merely the first sacrifice.
