Realms are different from Ruins; Realms are pockets of space that are created in the space of the world, while Ruins are pieces of an alien world.
The ruins are quite common in the surrounding continent as space is weak, and it is easier to form a bubble; on the other hand, they are extremely rare in the central continent due to its strong space.
Whenever a ruin is found, it quickly occupied. It may not have a huge amount of treasure as the Realms, but they are very good places to create secrete bases and training grounds.
Supreme and other organizations kept huge numbers of armies there, which they trained secretly for emergencies.
Coming to the present, if this had been a regular rune. Then it would not have been spewing the huge amount of Miasma, as it would have been a close space bubble with no connection to outside.
Its entrance or entrances would only show up when friction in space appears. So, the question is, how in the hell did the thick Miasma spew out of the realm.

We are talking about space organism here; forget whether it is alive, dead, or in-between. The important question is that Miasma's source is powerful enough that since its origin, less than three people were able to close or reach its source.
So, one can imagine how powerful it is, and if it had any bad intentions, whether they are conscious or instinctive, then Mira and others will be in immense danger.
