28 Stealing Pancakes (1/2)
”Nothing can be hidden from the eyes of Detective Brad.” Brad smirked at his mother.
Amelia laughed at her son's comments. She said that, ”Ha ha. Yes, I went to the East Village to your Grandma's.”
”To Grandma's, why?”
”It's nothing. Here is your pancakes. Come on, eat it, while it is hot.” Amelia gently stroked her son's head and sat down beside him on the couch and took a comic magazine to read.
”Mum, do you still read these?” Brad asked his mother.
”Why? What's wrong with these?”
”These are for kids.” Brad made a funny face as he answered his mom.
”So what? I love reading them. Hmph!” She snorted before focusing on it again.
Brad shook his head before focusing on his pancakes. Stephan tried to steal one or two when Brad wasn't looking and acted as if nothing happened. Amelia clearly noticed it and raised an eyebrow, but Stephan mouthed, ”Delicious. Couldn't help.”
After finishing all the pancakes, Brad said, ”Mom, Dad, I wanna join college from tomorrow. You know that the art exhibition will start soon. I need to go there.”
Stephan and Amelia looked at each other, worry etching their fair faces. Stephan cleared his throat and said, ”Okay.”
Amelia looked at her husband, not understanding the situation. But she couldn't disagree. Art was Brad's passion, and she couldn't cut off his wings. Brad looked at her waiting for her to say something. She slowly opened her mouth to place a condition for her agreement. ”I want to accompany you. You are ill. I won't be happy sitting here all alone in the house worrying about you.”
”But Mom, that will be dangerous. People might recognize you. Anything can happen to you. Dad has lots of enemies. No, Mom. I can't agree to this.”
”Believe your Mom, son. I know how to disguise myself. Why else do you think your dad is quiet?” Brad was astonished as he looked at his father and saw that he was smiling fondly looking at his wife.
Brad had no other choice than to agree. ”Yayy.” He said and hugged his mom and dad before sprinting upstairs towards his bedroom.
”Oi, go slow. You'll hurt yourself.” He could hear his mother shouting, but he was too happy to pay any heed to her words. He heard her cursing him. He laughed and then called Olympia.
