Under their pincers, I felt I had no place to say anything else.
”Xiaomo.”
Soong Shulan changed into a very serious expression.
”Do you think that I can finally do something for you to let me feel more at ease?”
His voice was too sincere.
Remembering how I'd comforted him so many times in the past two months, he still looked guilty from time to time. Since he didn't accompany me during the period of time that happened with Bai Family, the guilt in his heart may be even greater than I had imagined.
In the end, I nodded and accepted their offer.
He drove us around the shop to familiarize ourselves with the road and environment, and then found a quiet restaurant to celebrate.
The three of them sat together, noisily discussing the decorations of the shop, its opening hours, and the matter of taking its name.
”Just call it 'Warm' instead.”
None of us seemed to be very good at naming. After scratching our ears and noses for a long time, I finally suggested.
Chai Nuannuan was the first to oppose it, ”How can the three people's shops only use my name?”
”You're the one who made the dessert.”
”And don't you think your name has a nice connotation? Clean and warm. It's the impression you make on others, and it's also the impression you make on people when you make dessert. ”
”Warm dessert,” Soong Shulan repeated several times, ”I think it's fine! So be it. ”
Chai Nuannuan immediately got busy in the next few days.
Although Soong Shulan invited a professional looking decorating company to manage the place, she still went to the shop every day when she was free, trying his best to improve himself.
I would wander over to have lunch with her at noon, when there was nothing to do, and take a walk around the neighborhood.
Chai Nuannuan was very serious about opening up a shop. Following Soong Shulan's suggestion, she went through all the cake shops, dessert shops and cafes in the nearby streets to find out what styles they had made, their prices, and the ones that were more popular.
It was rare to see the usual gloom on her small face. She always looked around with wide, excited eyes, afraid of missing something.
Perhaps this was the change after one had a sense of direction.
When he felt that the future was within his reach, he would always feel the courage to move forward. This courage would dilute all the hardships that he had experienced and all the hardships of the past and present.
While we were investigating these competitors, we passed the café where she used to work.
Soong Shulan was a very meticulous person, when he rented the shop he specifically looked for this area, it was just across the street from this café, and if he didn't specifically walk here, the chances of him passing by were close to zero.
At this hour of the afternoon, there weren't many customers in the store.
Chai Nuannuan stopped at the corner of the shop and I stood there with her.
Looking through a wide transparent window, one could see the owner of this shop — that delicate and refined man — smiling and chatting with an elegant and pretty girl.
The young lady was wearing a uniform that was common in cafes. She was obviously a worker here as well.
Suddenly, the man raised his hand to help the young girl sweep her loose bangs behind her ears. Then, he bent over and kissed her forehead.
I subconsciously looked towards Chai Nuannuan who was beside me.
She looked at it expressionlessly for a moment longer, then finally turned her head to me, her voice calm. ”Let's go.”
On the way back I opened my mouth several times to say something, then swallowed it.
It was she herself who spoke first.
”As soon as I turned 18, my brother couldn't wait for me to come to work in the dark. He's the first man in years who doesn't say he likes me and then start to make a move. ”
”I once secretly imagined that he would leave the city with me, get rid of my family, and marry and have children.”
She gave a wry smile.
”When my brother came here the other day, I knew I was finished with him.”
