”Aren't you going out tonight?” May asked Keira as they prepared to go to bed.
Keira shook her head and threw herself on her bunk bed. After a second, she covered her face with her pillow as she kicked her feet.
May laughed, Keira was so stressed-out with the incident at the Conference Room B.
”Don't worry, who knows that dish might become a potion and Wolf will fall for you,” teased May followed by a burst of laughter. However, a pillow quickly landed on her face.
”What the heck!” She exclaimed and threw back the pillow at Keira's face.
”You two, stop playing around and let us sleep!” Lana scolded.
Keira pouted her lips and looked directly at May.
”I'll be on a week hiatus for going out before curfew May. I will let that incident subside…” she murmured.
”Week hiatus my ass! You mean a day hiatus!” May burst out.
Keira ignored May and just stuck her tongue out then lay down on her bed as she closed her eyes. She couldn't forget Zach's crumpled face. The next time around she would make sure that it was Zach's drooling face...
Meanwhile, Zach was having a very uncomfortable night as his stomach ached and grumbled several times.
He was definitely going to make Torin's life miserable…
.....
As days past by, Keira was feeling more of a soldier as she was getting adapted with everyday routine. She was getting used to how everything was supposed to work and what they should or shouldn't do.
”How many days it has been?” Lana asked May with an arched eyebrow as she watched Keira drinking her bottled water.
”It's been five days already… She said that it would be a week hiatus, so two more days I guess,” May said with a grin.
True to her words, Keira hadn't bothered Zach. Based on their observation, she was even avoiding interactions with him unlike before when she was bluntly staring at Zach whenever he was monitoring their training or giving them lectures. But lately, Keira did not even spare a single look to Zach intentionally avoiding looking at him.
Lana looked at the army unit patch on her left shoulder. At that day the first phase of their training ended.
”Soldiers, welcome to our shooting range! We will now proceed with the second phase of your training! Learning the basic skills of a soldier!” Shouted Sgt. Park.
”She looks so excited,” Torin whispered to Zach, pointing to Keira who was listening intently to Sgt. Cole, as the latter explained how to shoot the M-16 A2 rifle.
Zach did not respond but looked at Keira.
”You are required to shoot at least 28 out of the 40 targets that pop up. You will gain the badge of ”Marksman”, ”Sharpshooter”, or ”Expert” depending on how many of the 40 targets you will hit,” explained Sgt. Park.
They began to fire and Keira, with a wide smile, enjoyed what she was doing. Drey was beside her as male troops were mixed with them.
”Ahhhh! Yessss!” Forgetting that she was in the middle of the military training, Keira shouted when she missed only two targets. She even gave Drey their usual high five.
