Chapter Three:

”What?” You want to adopt him. ”Mom, you're not joking with me, right?”

As Aunt Cheng expected, Cheng Hanlong could not accept this suggestion no matter what. He stared at Aunt Cheng and said angrily, ”I'm not happy enough that you let him stay here for so long!” Let a beggar become a member of our family, no matter what, I will not agree. ”Mom, there are so many that look like your brother. Do you want to bring them home one by one?”

Aunt Cheng looked at Cheng Hanlong, who was beyond angry, and waited a long time before she slowly said, ”Hanlong, Mom has actually been wanting to find you a partner for a long time. Even if I don't adopt him, I might be able to learn a brother or sister for you from somewhere. Adopting a child is an idea I've had for a long time. ”

Cheng Hanlong asked in confusion, ”Why? You didn't even find a partner for me when I was young, and now that you think about it, what do you think happened when I was young? ”Besides, I'm already this old, so what if I have a partner or not?”

Aunt Cheng calmly said to him, ”Hanlong, it's not good to have you as an only child. Having someone to share with can teach you how to get along with others. You've been with your father less since you were a child, not to mention his education of you. ”You look like you've grown up to be no different from other people. In fact, in some ways, only your father is able to play this role. It would be a little lacking if you didn't accept it as much.”

Seeing that Cheng Hanlong's face did not change at all, Aunt Cheng sighed and continued:

”And then …” I can't spend a lifetime with you. After all, a brother has help. Your father's relatives at your grandmother's side all saw your father as a bandit, and they all died a long time ago. I am afraid that you will be left without someone to rely on in the future. If you are by yourself, kinship can never be a substitute for anything else.

”Mom, it's good for me to be alone. One extra person is a burden. ”Besides, don't you still have you?” When Cheng Hanlong finished speaking, Aunt Cheng did not reply. Cheng Hanlong noticed that Aunt Cheng's eyes were a bit red, and a bad premonition overcame him. He always felt that there was something he was hiding from his mom, but he was not sure what it was.

Aunt Cheng wiped the corner of her eyes when Cheng Hanlong wasn't paying attention and asked, ”What do you want to agree to?”

Cheng Hanlong didn't know how to reply to that question. He thought for a long time, but still couldn't say anything.

Aunt Cheng stood up and said to Cheng Hanlong, ”I've said what I wanted to say. Think about it carefully!” Then he headed for the bedroom.

Cheng Hanlong sat alone on the sofa for a while and seriously considered this question. He did not have much of an opinion on the matter of adopting a child, but at the very least, he should be a decent child! No matter what, it was better than begging! After thinking for a long time, Cheng Hanlong still couldn't think of how those begging people would pick up food beside the trash can. They didn't take a bath for a year, and some even pretended to be disabled to trick people. There are too many of them on the streets... No, I still can't accept it. I have to talk to my mother. Thinking about that, Cheng Hanlong walked towards the bedroom.

Just as he was about to enter the room, he felt something was wrong with the atmosphere, as if someone was crying. He looked through the crack in the door and saw Aunt Cheng's head lying on the blanket beside the child. Standing at the door, Cheng Hanlong felt as if his heart had been knocked over and the taste was very unpleasant.

He knew that Aunt Cheng couldn't possibly have done it just for this child. There had to be some other reason, but he simply couldn't share the burden with her. He didn't even know her at all. He was afraid that his rejection today would be a trigger for him! No matter what, it was still caused by him. Although he couldn't completely remove her mental state, he could still do more!

Once he made a decision, Cheng Hanlong would go find Aunt Cheng. He was afraid that he would regret it later.

”Mom …” Cheng Hanlong knocked on the door. Aunt Cheng turned her back on him and did not turn around, ”Is something the matter?”

”That... If you really like this child, then keep it! I don't have to worry about that. ”It's no big deal.” Cheng Hanlong stood at the door and said with a smile.

”Really? Didn't you just say that you wouldn't accept him? Will he be happy to stay with us in the future? ”
