Chapter 529: Mission (1/2)
'Where did he go?' Mr. Cool frowned when Max suddenly disappeared. He was the one closest to them and had clearly seen him being in a dominant position. There was no way that he would be transported like that.
”That guy lost?” One of the guy's from Ancient family noticed Max missing and was in disbelief.
Soon, the rest of people noticed it as well and their expression turned ugly one after another. Max had definitely surpassed them and it was pretty obvious but now even he was gone?
”I didn't think he was in a losing position?” Faryl said with a frown. He had been keeping an eye out on the battle with the commanding beast and didn't think Max would suddenly lose like this.
”Was he poisoned?” Ren asked, he couldn't think of any other reason.
Other people felt the same. Max was literally fighting the beast at a close range, the chances of being poisoned was terrifyingly high. And then, it wasn't like a normal antidote could stop the poison of a Mythic Tier Beast.
”Without him our chances of coming out of this as the winners has plummeted way too low…” Mr. Cool said as he looked at the rest.
”That thing is still hurt and seems to have lost its mind. We need to get out of here before it pulls itself together.” Farly said with a grim look and everyone turned around to see the Commanding Beast screeching madness as it eyes bled heavily. It really seemed to have lost its mind and was destroying its surroundings.
”He is right, only if we can bring all the Academies together would be able to beat that thing..” Mr. Cool nodded.
Without Max, there was no one else who could possibly tank that thing. If that was the case, then they would need numbers and a perfect plan to make up for that.
With that, there was no need to talk anymore. The people dropped of their previous plans to slay the beast and attacked the horde trying to break through them while carving a bloody path littered with corpses of beasts all around.
….
On the other side, Max and the man arrived at the Mage Association.
Max looked at the place in surprise. He knew that it belonged to the Noble Houses but now that he was here…
He shook his head, it would all be clear once he entered the place.
As they entered the place, Max's eyes dilated at the sight of two guards in front.
He wasn't able to detect their presence at all.
'They are using people like this to act as guards? Either they really have got tons of manpower to spare or they are just trying to show off.' He muttered inwardly before finally entering.
When Max finally saw the people, he really didn't know how to react. All of them seemed like your ordinary people with feeble presence, but that obviously shouldn't be the case. The main problem was that he didn't know who these people were which made it difficult for him choose what kind of attitude to adopt while approaching them.
Whether it was a coincidence or just pure luck, Max failed to recognize Lord of Kingsman family. There were two reasons for that. One, it was a curved table in the shape of an 'U' and Max had walked further in which left the person at a position which wasn't in his line of sight. Secondly, when he walked in, the Lord of Kingsman Family had his head lowered the entire time. How could Max think that this arrogant old ma even knew to lower his head? And same could be said for the rest of the Lords.
'Well, Master said he has got my back. It shouldn't be much of a problem..' Max thought while deciding to wait and see what these people had got to say to him. If they think he was easy to deal with then they were wrong. Even if he had to offend a few of these people for a shot at those spirit shells, it was definitely worth it.
After all, if they couldn't get to those Spirit Shells the legal way then they would have to take the back door and that would be way worse than the offending a few people. That was practically provoking the entire Ancient Family.
”So, may I know why I was drawn out of the competition?” He asked looking at the group of grandpa and grandmas. The middle aged people behind them were not paid much attention by him. It was because the way were standing made them look like servants or bodyguards.
How could he know that they were all top level figures who had just gathered here to discuss something and Max was coincidentally caught by them in action?
Max honestly thought that these were just people send out to supervise the competition. He had no idea how big of a mistake he had made in recognizing their identities.
These people's faces changed a bit. They were used to being treated with respect. It was true that Max hadn't disrespected them but still the way he just directly went on the topic made them feel a bit odd.
Aside from that, Max's fashion sense with a blindfold on his face was truly something that was out of their reach.
Still, these people had seen too much to be affected by something like this now.
”You are too strong to be playing around with them..” The old lady at Leviathan's seat said looking at Max with a smile on her face.
”Mam, I don't think there was anything which said that someone too strong wasn't allowed to participate in the competition. I am a student of the one of the Academy and that is the only criteria for participation. You just can't take me out for some random reason like that..” Max retorted reasonably but his words made the five Lords sweat in terror.
