1 Fried Eggs (2/2)

Nikolai couldn't really disagree with her, and his appetite had vanished long ago, so he waved for the maids to clear the table and poured himself a glass of fresh juice. That was the greatest boon of these lands, the orchards that came along with them.

”That's Captain Andreivich Mother.” She held a strong distaste for the 'common born' officer, but Nikolai had always gotten along well with him. Eva waved her fan dismissively and adjusted her long skirt.

”The Bolga trade company representatives will be here in the afternoon for the licences.”

”I'll be on time, just make sure Father has a look at it first.” Nikolai's thoughts were on his frying pan experiments. The Baron waved in acknowledgment.

”The craftsmen for the new hall are coming.”

”I'll be there.”

”The Stablemaster has a request about some of the new breed.”

”I'll be there.” He swiped an apple from the tree that arched over the conservatory, jumping a little to reach one of the juicier specimens higher up.

”I need some of your time for my Garden.” She called.

”I'll be theeeerree.” He was almost out of the room so he sang back, skipping through the door.

”Your fiancée will be here in the evening for a meeting.”

”IIIII'll beeeee theeeeeeere.” He laughed for a moment but then froze as Eva's words registered. He dashed back inside, eyes wide with surprise.

”Wait. What fiancée?”
