Chapter 30:30. His Girlfriend (1/2)
The days gone by easily with James. I had been going back and forth, from my place to his. Adriana had emailed me regarding the ending of my contract with James. She did offered me another chance, but I refuse and said that I was done for now. And she didn't push me again, I think she was suspicious with what was going on between James and me. But decided to drop it.
I had just gotten back from campus, when he looked at me with his serious expression. This was one of those rare occasion, where he was able to get back early from the office.
”So, how's campus?” He asked me with a bit of uneasiness, like he was asking about something else besides that.
”The usual. Why ask differently?”
”I didn't. I just realized something that's all. No worries.” But his expression said otherwise.
”Anyway, I got to get back to the office. Just make yourself at home okay. I maybe back late at night. I'll text you later, Lorainne.” He kissed my cheek, and left me alone at his place.
What the hell was that?
He definitely texted me earlier, saying he had a clear afternoon schedule. And that he would spend the day, watching movies with me. Then he called me Lorraine, he never called me that unless he was mad or I was in trouble.
I decided to call Jeremy, and spend the afternoon with him and Riley, catching up on my best-man duties.
”So, I'm guessing another trouble in paradise?” Jeremy asked straight away, while we were on our way picking up Riley, to have an early dinner at his favorite bar.
”Sort of, I mean he introduced me to his parents, who are lovely by the way. You would love his mom. His parents are definitely a one eighty from his personality. They're so warm and hugged a lot, I mean lots.” I laughed remembering his mom.
”I thought we were good. He did introduced me as his girlfriend. His mom told me that I'm the first one they ever met.” I shrugged, while Jeremy patted my hand.
”But this afternoon he was all weird, like...oh, I just don't know. Maybe I'm wrong. Hopefully I'm wrong. Just dozed me with some chicken wings and beers then I'm good. Hopefully he will too.” Jeremy laughed at me, and told me everything was going to be fine.
”Riley! No more!” I was giggling. Riley kept on handing me shots, as I kept on loosing at the pool table. My hands were already sluggish from the beers, when we started our game of pool table. My hands coordination were like a two year old.
”Lorraine?” Out of all people that could be seen at a gay bar, it was Richard.
”Wow, Richard! I didn't know you're considering?” Obviously pointing to the gay bar situation.
Then he laughed. ”No, no... I'm here with my friends from the club. It's a thing, with them. It's too long to explain.” He shrugged and hugged me tight.
”I missed you Lor, what are you doing here?” He was definitely eyeing Riley behind me, for explanations.
”Ehm yeah...oh, hey...this is Riley, and his future groom Jeremy, my highschool sweetheart. I'm his best-man for their wedding.” I grinned at him, definitely absolutely sure, that I was one hundred percent drunk.
Richard was surprised with my explanation but tried to kept it cool. ”So, you wanna dance?” He finally asked me.
”Yeah sure, wait I need to get this one down. I lost my bet with Riley.” He was shaking his head no infront of me, definitely not liking my intention on dancing with Richard.
But my mind was already blurry, and I was upset with James. I had been waiting days for his free time, I know he had been busy and I had tried to be patient with him. So I was thrilled, when he told me about spending the rest of the day with me. But today he was different, there was something off about him.
I thought being his girlfriend would meant something more to him, but it seemed like I was still his toy. The toy that he played with anytime he wanted.
