Chapter 45 (2/2)
Chen Mu went upstairs and quickly grabbed a change of clothes before rushing into the bathroom.
When Chen Yifei arrived, Chen Mu was already humming away.
“Open up! If you have the ability to snatch the bathroom, you should be able to open the door.” Chen Yifei was angry. Chen Mu always got there first, and he had no concept of giving way.
Chen Mu ignored her. Girls easily took at least half an hour to shower. He did not have the time to wait, he still had to train.
That night’s training was focused on champion mechanics. Chen Mu was considered a superhuman when it came to damage calculation. However, for one to reach their maximum damage output, they required frightening speed and precise mechanical skills.
For example, if one knew of a skill combination that could oneshot people but lacked in speed when it came to executing it and ended up missing a skill. There was a chance they would get crowd controlled the next instant and be killed, such an incident would be very awkward.
Furthermore League of Legends had added countless variables in order to ensure the game didn’t revolve solely around numbers. Multiple skills were not targeted and could be cast on empty ground.
Only with perfect mechanical skills could Chen Mu take advantage of his ability to calculate damage.
“Tonight’s training will focus on LeBlanc, the Deceiver. The host has to execute LeBlanc’s WQRW combo in the shortest amount of time possible. The requirement is that the host’s mimicked Sigil of Silence, which is his R, and the host’s Sigil of Silence from his Q, hit the champion at the same time,” the system issued Chen Mu his mission and objective for the night.
Chen Mu did not say much, instead, he immediately activated the training simulation provided by the system, leveled the Deceiver up to level 6, turned off mana costs within the game, and began to carry out countless WQRW combos on a training dummy.
The combo had very simple mechanics. However, for one to reach the speed expected by the system, it was no mean feat. For 15 whole minutes, with each time taking less than 3 seconds, Chen Mu had tried it 900 times before he received the notification that he had passed.
Nevertheless, it was far from the end. Stage 2 of the training began.
“WQREW, a five button combo. The requirement is the same as the first training stage; before LeBlanc’s E hits the training dummy’s body, return to your original position to create an extra-long chain,” the system issued the requirements for the next challenge.
This time, it took Chen Mu 10 minutes of practice. After over 600 repeated tries, Chen Mu began to feel his hands hurt. He quickly stretched them. 1500 instant combos, he feared that he would have to play 10 normal games.
“Stage 3, W Deathfire Grasp QREW!
“Stage 4, W Deathfire Grasp QRE Ignite W.”
…
By the time Chen Mu climbed into bed, his hands were extremely tired. He exercised his fingers a bit and then quickly went to bed. God d*mn, Leblanc has too many combos. With so many permutations and having to execute combos at such a terrifying speed. Do professional players have it this hard?
During his training simulation, Chen Mu felt like he was at a factory assembly line sticking labels. Monotonous and repetitive. Chen Mu had secretly gone and worked in a factory during the summer break of his freshman year. What he did there was to stick labels. He was paid 2500 Yuan a month, but it was extremely boring. Within half a month, he was found out by his dad. His dad told him that if he did not come back, he would not take his medication. His mother was crying over the phone, and that’s when he stopped.
Knowing that Chen Mu was unwilling to stay at home and study, his dad thickened his skin and asked his former colleague to allow Chen My to go to the laboratory and conduct experiments over the summer break. He earned 1000 Yuan a month there.
Chen Mu’s dad told him that even if he wanted to work, he had to find a job that could teach him something. Even though working was a good thing, there was very little space for him to grow. The more valuable something was, the rarer it was. The income to growth rate of a position that anyone could fill was lower.
Chen Mu thought that it was reasonable. Only 1 team could become the world champion, and that was why they were worth a million USD.
What the training simulation taught Chen Mu was possibly one out of the millions of superhuman mechanical skills that could be used in the game. Other people were unable to practice the same way as Chen Mu at that time. Therefore, Chen Mu had a massive advantage. Hence, even though it was tough, he still had to continue. Whenever Chen Mu got tired, he would chant to himself, ‘ten bucks, twenty bucks, thirty bucks…’ That often gave him the motivation to train more.
In the future, all of it would be used to help him make a living.
