Chapter 23 (2/2)

Since his goal was to complete as many matches as he could—and not score kills—Chen Mu started locking in champions that could push towers faster. It made ending matches more convenient.

Chen Mu found Xin Zhao in the weekly free champion rotation, and he was aware that the champion’s Q was very useful in damaging towers.

In addition to the champion’s high damage, Chen Mu had Smite and Flash since his account had passed level 12. Hence, he had no problems jungling.

Within half an hour, Chen Mu managed to complete two matches and smoothly hit Level 20 (TN: I think the author has made a typo here because Chen Mu already hit level 20 earlier in Chapter 22 while playing with Zhuo Xiaobai) all thanks to the insane amount of experience he earned that was thirty times more than what he usually got.

It would be accurate to say that the mission was meant for Chen Mu to earn more points since he was only required to play more matches. Taking into account the experience multiplier, the two matches Chen Mu played was equal to him playing sixty normal matches without any experience point boosters.

However, what the System said was true. The opponents that Chen Mu was getting matched up against were slowly getting stronger. As Chen Mu continued on playing, the number of players who fought against towers grew less with each match.

During breakfast, when Chen Mu saw Chen Yifei, Chen Mu contemplated whether he should teach her some of the System’s lessons.

If he could teach her what he learned, it would improve her playing skill greatly. However, if it was going to cause her results to continue plummeting because she kept on gaming, then the amount of stress that she would feel in Year 3 Senior would be unbearably high.

After giving it another long thought, Chen Mu decided that it would suffice for him to accompany her to play a few games whenever he was free.

As for the question of whether studying was useful, everyone should have the right to retain their own opinions on it. Nevertheless, Chen Mu firmly believed that studying was useful because he managed to earn himself a lot of benefits just by studying.

The huge sum of money the school’s scholarship provided nearly came up to half of his Old Ma’s annual income as a cashier. Without that money, the house that they were living in might have been sold in exchange to cover the siblings’ school fees and living expenses.

The country was not stupid either. After investing hundreds of millions of yuan in the country’s education system, would they want to produce a bunch of low skilled workers that only had high marks?

Of course not. Yet, skills were not something that could be recognized especially if one said, “I have the skills but I don’t know how to sit for exams.”

Everyone was presented with an equal opportunity to do the same thing through exams.

However, did that mean if you were good in your exams you were absolute trash at doing other things? It did not. Therefore, Chen Mu still wished that Chen Yifei returned to her studious self in the past.

When Chen Mu arrived at school, he coincidentally bumped into Lu Ren. Chen Mu noticed that his face was filled with a tired paleness and he asked concernedly, “Did you watch the championship too? You don’t look so good.”

“Nah, a local 3D animation was released yesterday. I waited until midnight before it was updated. By the time I finished watching it… I can only say this, eight out of every ten locally-produced 3D animations suck.” Lu Ren who had his glasses on looked aggrieved. He had an uncontested love for animation. Therefore, whenever he thought about local animation productions, he felt particularly angry at the industry’s misfortune and sorrowful at its disappointment.

“Normally, I don’t watch 3D animations. So, I’m not sure I understand what you said,” replied Chen Mu.

“Huh? It’s a pity that you don’t watch 3D,” said Lu Ren.

“There’s no harm if you don’t know about it. Let’s go to class,” said Chen Mu. Chen Mu was genuinely surprised that such a naive child existed in Year 3 Senior. Chen Mu was embarrassed to think about it as he wondered why images of chests and legs kept popping up in his mind alongside his studies and League. What a sin!

Yet, his one true life goal was to leave his single life behind once he graduated and become a real man. If it was not for the System, he guessed he would have been able to achieve it this time around.

Chen Mu fumed in his seat.

“Ding! The Host is about to participate in a cybercafe tournament and requires intense training. Please give up on meaningless self-study sessions at night and use that time to train in real combat.” The System’s notification left Chen Mu dumbfounded.

Did that mean… Was the System saying that Chen Mu should play truant?

‘What should I do? F**k me. In my whole life, I’ve never played truant before!’

Chen Mu lapsed into deep contemplation.
