Chapter 3.1 (2/2)
“Why….Scared?”
“Me? We… we only just met each other a day or two before?”
“Well, I’m glad to hear that. Last time, there was a problem with the item you carried.”
“What do you mean by problem?”
“The money deposited from Valentin has slipped away like a mirage.”
Sei frowned.
What she did for Giulio Parenti was quite limited. No matter how bold she was, she couldn’t do a big business against the Mafia.
It was on DE:A’s cruise that she first met Giulio Parenti. When she was young, she didn’t know Giulio was a mafia leader. Without thinking, she had robbed his pockets and the result was quite terrible. It was when she faced six guns for thirty minutes, she realised the importance of customer selection.
Fortunately when Giulio found her, he was then struggling with the sudden absence of his personal mule.
[T/N: Mule: A mule or courier is someone who personally smuggles contraband across a border for a smuggling organization. The organizers employ mules to reduce the risk of getting caught themselves. ]
There were various ways in which mafias earned their money. Drugs, arms trafficking, and human trafficking that people commonly know are no longer very lucrative. They have evolved into corporate mobs dealing with national projects and bailouts. He even dabbled in various kinds of information businesses, and the part that he needed Sei for was also related to the information business.
Every month, she took things that Giulio wanted to deliver to the place of appointment. She was never curious about what the delivery was. Sometimes it would be a bundle of cash, sometimes a document or sometimes it would be drugs.
Sometimes she wondered what kind of fate led her to this world? Especially when she had to dress up as an old man or when she had to drive a 10-ton truck.
‘By the way, I can’t believe there’s a problem with the item. Then shouldn’t we catch Valentin Orlov who deposited the money? He was the one who deposited the money and received the goods. Why hasn’t he gone to him? Or maybe it’s me…’
Sei’s eyes widened as she realised this and she tightly gripped Giulio’s hand.
“Are you doubting me? I just deliver your stuff without knowing the identity of the clients and speaking to them.”
“I don’t know. Rats always turn out to be ones that are closest.”
Holding her waist with one hand, he pulled out his other hand and grabbed her hair. He nuzzled her neck and then approached her as if he was going to kiss her. Sei pulled her head back. Judging by her experience of working under him for two years, he was really like a double dealer. Giulio Parenti was certainly a scary man, but at least he was pretty good to her.
She didn’t know whether it was because he was sexually attracted to her or simply because she was an Asian woman, but sometimes men acted so friendly that they felt abnormal to her. In that case, it was much more favorable to be rebellious rather than be obedient.
‘Sadist!’
Well, it was more funny that a mafia leader who killed people without blinking an eye was not a sadist.
Giulio’s eyes gleamed as she avoided his touch. He grabbed Sei’s slender neck in one instant moment. The hand clutched her delicate neck and cut off her oxygen. His fingers tightened and left red marks on her pale white skin. Struggling to breathe, she clung to his arm.
“I, I’m not…Ha, shit.”
“No, your abilities are too great. I can’t figure out where and what you’re doing. Just like before. Were you thinking of going into that man’s crib tonight?”
[T/N: If you’re wondering what he means by crib, he’s basically belittling the other guy’s junk and calling him a baby.]
“Don’t make me laugh. I told you… that was just my four-month living expenses. And no matter how greedy I am, I don’t sell my body.”
His long eyelashes fell languidly. Giulio loosened his grip on her neck. It had only been a few seconds, but there was already a bruise on her white neck. He clicked his tongue and grabbed her chin.
