This Paper, of wide fame in its day, appeared in three forms: (1) In reports of the Social Science association's Meetings (No 39); also very fully reported in the _Scotsman_, October 9, 1863

(2) In the pah dated 1863, was not issued till Jan 1864 250 copies were printed for private circulation only

(3) A _second edition_, widely circulated, appeared in Novemans, 8vo, pp 18 (lilac wrapper), with a new Preface (dated August 1864)

(42) _Suggestions, in Regard to Sanitary Works required for I Indian Stations, prepared by the Barrack and Hospital Iestions, pp 1-37), issued in 1864

These Suggestions are signed by the mehtingale The MS of the Suggestions as first sent to the printers, preserved a, with some additions by Dr Sutherland The section (and nue and water-supply was contributed by Mr R Rawlinson See Vol II p 48

A _revised edition_ was issued in 1882
