Chapter 223 - This must be your lucky day, New Girl! (1/2)

After she was introduced to people from the relevant departments, Finland followed Ruth to attend two meetings and took the minutes of the meetings. She was very happy because she learned a lot of new things from the projects they were working on; she couldn't wait to get further involved.

When lunchtime arrived, Ruth invited her to eat at the restaurant on the 30th floor. Lunch hour ran from 12.00 to 14.00, so employees could eat whenever they wanted to avoid congestion of visitors.

When Finland and Ruth arrived, the dining room was not full because it was only 12 o'clock. Ruth liked to have lunch early and quickly, so she could attend to two more meetings after lunch.

Finland was amazed to see the big and elegantly arranged restaurant. What a very classy company, she thought. She felt fortunate to get the opportunity to work in a company of this size, as compared with LTX International, the only other company she had ever worked at.

[Are you having lunch on the 30th floor?]

When Finland just sat down at her table, an SMS from Caspar came in. Ah, yes... this morning Caspar invited her to lunch together. Finland forgot because so much had happened that morning and Ruth invited her to lunch.

[Yeah... I'm with Ruth, my supervisor. Where will you eat?] Asked Finland.

[I will be there.]

[B... but we can't eat together, people will get suspicious...]

[It is okay.]

Ugh, Finland immediately became nervous. It was only her first day at work. She did not want to create a scene where Caspar came and sat to eat with her. Restlessly, she quickly ate her food and wondered how she would excuse herself if Ruth suspected something.

”Why are you eating in such a hurry?” Ruth asked in surprise. Finland, who did not realize that she had been munching her food too quickly, immediately became aware of her surroundings, and shook her head while blushing.

”Uh... sorry, the food is really good, I haven't eaten this kind of food for a long time...” she replied awkwardly.

Ruth looked at Finland with a look of pity. She though that Finland hadn't eaten such nice food for a long time. Now, Ruth could only guess how difficult Finland's life must be.
