145 Chapter 1 from my new story (1/2)
There was no sense of wakefulness or enlightenment as I came into existence. There was no epiphany, or fancy gods looking over me. There was nothing. I was greeted by a vast abyss. Looking back, perhaps a normal person would have been scared by the vast sea of nothingness, but for me, this was the first image I had every experienced. This was the dawn of my life.
I stayed in the endless abyss for an unknown amount of time. For me, time was a concept that I was vaguely aware of, something that should have had meaning, but ultimately didn't. The concept was like a memory of a dream, that was slowly fading away.
I knew that this was not my first life; that my first life had ended pitifully, but I did not know the details. I had no attachment to that life, it was not even something that I could remember. I did however have a hunger for this new life. I could vividly remember tails of people being reincarnated into different worlds. In these stories the main characters were always bad asses, and even if they started off in a weak form they would evolve into something monstorous.
This is something that excited me. The idea of power. The idea of growing incredibly powerful. The idea of endless adventure, as I battled to reach the peak of existence. THIS is something that I wanted, this was my one true desire.
As the abyss swirled around me, I could feel my conciousness being pulled, and an immense pressure building on my body. The dark Abyss soon disappeared from my vision, replaced by a sudden dim light. The dim light was all everywhere, bright enough to be annoying, but not enough to allow me to see anything.
I could only curse in frustration. How was I to dominate this new and exciting world if I could not even see it? I let out a soft growl in my frustration.
My anger slowly dimmed as memories of the many Isekai novels I had read resurfaced in my mind. Most of the people who had transmigrated had been given a system. A system that they could access with their minds. Hopefully my story would be similiar. With this thought in mind I excitedly screamed ”Status” in my head.
My excitement wavered as nothing happened. There was still nothing. Only the infinite dim light that constantly assaulted me. Again I let out a growl. My ears twitched as I heard a soft, low pitched growl. The sound was so faint that I almost missed it.
The sound was foreign to my ears, and yet oddly familiar. I swore I had heard it before, but it was not something I could immediately place. I quickly moved my hands to my face to explore my new body.
I opened my mouth, but could not feel any teeth. This did not surprise me, as I could already guess I had just been born. What did surprise me, was that my hands did not feel like well hands. I could feel joints at the ends of my palms, but they were not long and slender as they should be, plus they seemd to be a lot smaller.
I put the oddity to the side of my mind as I let my odd shaped hands further explore my face. As they ventured further upwards a portion of the annoying dim light suddenly disappeared, quickly followed by the other. I was left in pitch blackness.
I was not scared by the sudden development, but rather let out a sigh of relief. It seemed my new body only had two eyes. The dim light must have come from my eyelids, that I was not yet ready to open.
The dim light returned as my hands slowly explored further up my face. I did not find much, until my hands reached the top most part of my head. On either side of my head I felt soft triangular shaped ears.
Shock filled me as I felt this. Things slowly began to add up in my mind.
”System” I screamed mentally ”Show me my status.”
Like magic a video game like display appeared before me. The page was simple, and reminded me of a character sheet from certain table top games.
