21 The Lycan God Fenfir (2/2)
My train of thought did not interfere with my actions as I quickly began to shoot my orbs towards the beast with both of my weapons. The rabbit was rather fast, its movements leaving behind after images. Yet its speed was roughly equal to my own, so I had no problem tracking its movements.
I let my orbs fly, and yet they continued to miss. The shots fired from my main hand would occasionally strike the beast, the scene from the first attack repeating. My offhand shots were a guaranteed miss. I eventually was forced to stop firing from my off hand as it was simply a waste of my mana.
The battle raged on, Th rabbit did not seem to want to attack, rather it fled into the woods. The chase began, as I began to fire my orbs at it while we ran. With my accuracy warning and the rapid movements around 90% of shots missed. I could not help but wince over the wasted mana.
Finally my massive amount of luck seemed to favor me as my orb struck the rabbit in the head, sending it tumbling to the ground. I could not help but nod to myself. Even in this world, without a head the enemy was powerless.
That's where it should have ended. If it had been any other creature than that would have definitely been the case. The rabbit twitched, and I could feel a plethora of arcane energy begin to swell from the body. Its head slowly began to reform even as its body began to mutate.
The rabbit jumped onto its hind legs as it stared at me. Its teeth had grown sharp, and its eyes glowed a demonic red. The various wounds that had accumulated on it's body began to close at a rapid rate. The creatures from paws had mutated. The claws of the be beasts elongated, resembling talons of a bird of prey.
It charged at me with a speed I could not follow either my eyes. A long gash and a sharp pain appeared on my stomache, blood flowed down my body as I could see my insides. I fell to my knees as I waited for the next attack.
The next attack did not come. Instead I felt an incredible Pressure that threatened to crush my very soul. I could not even lift my eyes as the terrifying presence slowly approached me.
”Pitiful mortal, I must thank you for showing the path to make my failure into a success. These once useless rabbits can now properly join my army. I am not an ungrateful god, Even if others would call me evil. For your Assistance I will give you a blessing, though many will view it as a curse”
With that the pressure was gone, and the previously silent forest returned to an active state. I slowly rose to my feet as I held my stomache, fresh blood still poured down my body. I turned towards my cave and began to walk.
