63 Floof (2/2)

A sudden system message appeared in front of Eric. Staring down at the rabbit, he watched as it swallowed the last of the apple, turning to gaze up at him once more. Gathering its energy, the rabbit jumped into Eric's arms, nestling itself against his chest as it closed its eyes. Unable to resist the sudden cuteness overload, Eric accepted the system's offer, causing a golden light to briefly envelope the rabbit before disappearing.

[You have learned a new skill: Basic Taming]

[Basic Taming] - Beginner 1

Active Skill

You have proven yourself able to form connections with the wildlife of Nasvencia. By pacifying and gaining the trust of a wild creature, you gain the ability to turn it into your pet. Pets can be trained to perform various tasks including helping you in combat. Further levels in this skill will allow you to tame and train even stronger creatures. Pets can be stored in your pet space, and pets that die will reappear in your pet space after one day.

You may summon and dismiss pets in the same manner as your system fairy, although do note that not paying enough attention to your pet will cause it to become resentful and its loyalty to fall.

Well, no real difference from the system fairy there, Eric thought with a small chuckle as he closed the notification, opening the rabbit's status page.

[You have gained a pet! Infant Demonic Rabbit]

Infant Demonic Rabbit - Level 1 Creature

Health: 10

Hunger: Full

Loyalty: 82/100

Skills: None

A baby Demonic Rabbit whose parents are dead. This orphaned rabbit would not have survived without your timely intervention. While it might not be the best suited for combat, this adorable creature is a favourite pet amongst commoners. Petting its soft fur is a great way to destress after a long day.

[Would you like to name your new pet?]

A new message appeared as Eric closed the status page. A name, eh? Eric thought, looking down at the sleeping rabbit in his arms. The fur on its front and sides felt soft to the touch, covering his forearms as the rabbit slept.

”I think I'll call you Floof,” Eric told the rabbit, receiving a small twitch in response.

[Infant Demonic Rabbit is now called Floof - Loyalty has risen by 1]

Dismissing the system message, Eric resumed his trek back to Tonbura, pondering his troubles with spellcrafting as he cradled Floof in his arms. He'd made significant progress in the last few hours, creating the Bullet spell, experimenting with a three rune spell, and creating a control spell for himself. However, neither the Bullet spell nor the control solved his problem with armoured foes. While the control spell would likely buy him time against heavily armoured opponents, it would not allow him to pierce their defenses. What he needed remained the same as it had been before the night had begun: A powerful spell to break through an opponent's defenses, that could be cast in a more reasonable amount of time than Multi-linked Wind Dart.
