Lu Man lowered her eyes and she was happy. How adorable he was indeed!

“Why don’t you get up?” Pei Zichen frowned and looked at her.

“I’m being punished. How can I get up when I’ve promised to kneel here?” It was a punishment. If she got up now, she would surely be labeled as a dishonest person.

“Why are you so stupid? We’re the only ones here. If both of us keep quiet about it, who will know about this?” Pei Zichen became impatient.

“Honesty is the best policy.” If she did not want the punishment, she would have said so in the beginning. Now that she had promised to do so, she would surely fulfill it.

“You’re so stubborn!” Pei Zichen was speechless. But, he admired her more. He worried less now when he found out that she was quite stupid and stubborn. She did not seem like a villain and he could indeed have faith in her.

“I’m not stubborn. I’m just nice. I have a noble characteristic,” Lu Man said smugly.

“You’re just naive. How could you say that? You’re just gullible!” Pei Zichen rolled his eyes at her.

Lu Man’s lips twitched.

“Aren’t you afraid that you cannot walk anymore?”

“No, I’m not afraid. I have a husband and a son to take care of me.”

“Where are your husband and son?”

“My husband is your father and surely you’re my son!” Lu Man looked at him just like something had gone into his head.

“You think too much! We won’t take care of you!” Pei Zichen was filled with contempt toward her.

“It’s your fault that I cannot walk from now on. Shouldn’t you be responsible for that? Do you want to kick me out and ask me to be a beggar instead?”

“Of course not!”

“Then, be responsible for what you’ve done!”

Pei Zichen was speechless.

“You just wait here. I’ll go and meet my great-grandmother. I’ll tell her that I’m the one who has framed you. I’ll ask her not to punish you anymore!” He wanted to leave her when he was done talking.

Lu Man grabbed him immediately. “Your great-grandmother is not feeling well. Don’t go!”

“But, what about your legs?”

“Xiao Chen, I’m quite touched to see that you’re concerned about me!” Lu Man’s face was filled with satisfaction. Xiao Chen was a good kid! He was even worried about his enemy!

“Who’s concerned about you? You’re so naive. If you cannot walk, you’ll stay with us forever!” Pei Zichen sneered. He did not want her to think too much. He was never worried about her!

Lu Man’s lips twitched. “You’re indeed a naughty boy!”

“I’m not! You’re just too naive and you don’t even want to admit that!” Pei Zichen sneered.

“You’re the one who is naive here! You don’t even know that I’m messing with you. Do you really think that I cannot move my legs from now on just because I’m kneeling here?” Lu Man sounded just like him now.

“I know that you’re lying to me! Now, you’re admitting it after I tricked you!” Pei Zichen replied smugly. He did not really want to go and meet his great-grandmother now.

Lu Man was speechless.

“Just stay here. I’m going to sleep now.” Although kneeling there would not break his legs, it was not a comfortable feeling either. He had made the right decision to stand up when she said that. He was indeed quite smart! He saw a blanket by the side. Suddenly, he felt rather sleepy. Then, he went to sleep on the blanket.

Lu Man did not know how to respond to that.

“Why don’t you go back to bed if you want to sleep?” What kind of hobby was that to be sleeping there in the ancestral hall?

“I’m staying here to protect you given that we’re comrades now. Otherwise, my ancestors might appear and scare the hell out of you!” Pei Zichen used what she said to retort her now.
